I see two options, but Smart will have to earn it in both cases, and I think he will, eventually.

option 1:  A Rondo Smart starting backcourt with AB off the bench.  I love this option, because though Bradley is a better shooter than Smart I think Smart will have a bigger impact overall.  Bradley can still get big minutes.  I think Rondo and Smart will cut teams apart with great chemistry between them.

option 2:  Rondo is traded for a starting center and we start Smart and AB.

We need to set the tone early and put Smart/AB backcourt is the best way to do it
(Rondo still gambles sometimes on defense and let his opponent get past him)
we will need the defense intensity and fighting spirit
or maybe we should start Rondo, if he didn't play defense we put on Smart early

Yes please. I can see Rondo doing better off the bench vs non starters

I am so glad you aren't the coach or the gm.

Dont worry , you will be glad when rondo is traded. You think BS has a choice in whether he can bench rondo right now?

Why would you want a guy like that starting anyways?

Clearly he's having a hard time playing against other starters in this league.  Additionally, he probably needs a night off too.

Lol, TP. Can we take the time to acknowledge the juxtaposition that is claiming Rondo sucks and discouraging his re-insertion into the starting lineup for fear that he may re-injure hand? If he sucks, what do we care about the small chance that he injures himself again?

Typical rondo talk. Rondo getting his stats. Yet we get blown out vs the rockets and almost a 2nd one.

Have you seen our roster?

Edit: yeah, almost a second one if not for a lineup Rondo was a part of.

Another reason I like option 1:  Both Smart and AB can cause havoc on defense, but Smart can do it without expending as much effort as AB, just by being so much bigger.  I'd like to see AB play with full defensive effort, which is perfect for coming off the bench and letting loose his defensive talent.  If he heats up from outside he can stay in longer.  But as I said above Smart will have to earn the starting role over Bradley..won't just be handed to him.

I think this is the best answer.  You really can't put simple facts out there for the rondo haters.  Marcus Smart and Avery Bradley put together aren't the player rondo is
Our talent is rajon rondo
big drop….keep dropping
jeff green
jared sullinger
etc

wow i can't believe the beginning of this thread, i like smart but he isn't the best backup pg on the roster….turner is better
 ??? ::) :-\ :'(

Does anyone really think that the Celtics would be better without Rondo? And I don't mean better in the 'health of the franchise' way. I mean as a team of players trying to win games.

That would make a great poll question.

I can think of two on here just off the top of my head that probably genuinely feel that way.

I'd guess Brad can pick his lineups. Just like the training staff wasn't forced to allow Rondo to play in spite of your idea to hold him out through the end of November and then have him spend December "getting into game shape" so he'd be ready to start his season around new years.

Is the thought that Brad's afraid of Rondo, that he's being blackmailed, or that the team that hired him to be the coach of the future won't allow Stevens to pick his own lineups?
