As a big Rondo fan, whenever I hear other fans talking about 'how much Rondo's jumper has improved' just after a good game, I still shake my head. It has always been the same ol' Rondo. Actually, In my opinion, Rondo was on his prime in about 2009, when he fully commit to play defense and before suffering from the injury, and it almost seems Rondo's shooting has regressed compared with the pre-injured self.  I can't say how much I'm disappointed in Rondo's lack of improvement, if any. If Marcus keeps showing his potential to be a defensive-minded all-around point guard, then it's only reasonable that Danny trades Rondo before giving him the max contract he demands. I'll still follow Rondo's games closely though.

He's a playmaker not a scorer.

It hasn't regressed, IMO. In game 1, he was 6 of 9 from the field. In the past 2 games, he's hitting the jumper okay but struggled going to the hoop. That might have something to do with guys named Dwight Howard and Tyson Chandler.

non sequitur.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

What? He is not a great shooter. That's been known.

Yes.

Small sample size much?

No matter what happens from here on out, Triboy's mind is made up on Rondo and has been for a long time. This is a guy who in the game thread was dumping all over Rondo's defense of Jameer Nelson even though Rondo wasn't defending him.

Rondo was never a good shooter by NBA standards.

Unless, of course, you go by stats.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

He is a terrible free throw shooter and 3pt shooter and the stats will back me up on that one....:)

I hate this approach like "yeah if you watch his mid-range percentage he's pretty good".
Do you really want him to shoot jumpers? Really?
Just a couple info. Teams let him shoot all the time, because he can't. If the celtics end their possesion by a Rondo jumper, the opponent is pretty content with it.
Like when Tommy Heinsohn gets jovially crazy after Rondo hits a pair of jumpers. "Don't tell me he can't shoot!"
Rondo is not shooting much BTW. If he would shoot 15 jumpers a game the percentages were bad.
Rondo is smart so he limits his shooting, so he will not get exposed.
