I see Young as more of a SF.

I see him becoming more like Trevor Ariza: deceptively athletic, good shooter, solid defender, great role player.

Young reminds me of Alex English.
Smooth and effective scorer.

I would say we have a better chance with Sully becoming the next Kevin Love then assigning Young to another all-star.
Well no one has suggested that yet so no worries.

There was a whole "Sully>Love" thread a week or two back.  Most people strongly disagreed, though.

More on topic, I don't know if Young is the same kind of player as Klay Thompson, but perhaps as an absolute ceiling he could have a comparable impact. Thompson's not an All-Star though, at least not yet.
That's the part I was refering to, Klay isn't an all-star. Though I wouldn't put it past the hype train to latch onto a hot start to get him there.
I guess I have Klay over rated and tagged him an all-star. Looks like ESPN only has him at 38. I think he's more like 20-24. I wonder how everyone else rates Klay Thompson?

Is this based on seeing Alex English play at the time, or youtube highlights?

How do you tag someone an all-star? I get you can think he's deserving, but he's either been selected for the game or he hasn't. He stands a better chance than I thought with Westbrooks injury this year. I assum Durant will still get voted in though.

I don't understand your logic. I associated him as an all-star incorrectly due to over ranking him and not realizing he wasn't an all star. So I tagged him as an all star incorrectly. I do think he makes it this year but I didn't tag him as an all-star because of future considerations. It was a mistake buddy.  ;)

In threads like this, I sometimes wonder how many posters know the difference between a player's ceiling and his most likely outcome.

What's with jumping on the Alex English guy?  I saw English play a fair bit and I'm 36 - I was probably a bit too young to really appreciate his game, but there are a lot of posters older than me.  We're not talking about Hank Luisetti here - his highlights are in color!

Young is gonna need to drastically improve his defense if he wants to be anything like Thompson, if he was likely to be a Thompson like player, he probably wouldn't have gone as low as 17th this year.

Now this is false. Thompson was picked 11th in what was considered a weak draft. Young was drafted 17th in a great one. However, Young would've gone even higher if it weren't for the accident he was in, which caused him not to be able to workout for some teams. Stevens said that Young was in the top 10 of the C's draft board.

I  recall Alex English quite well and I think JY is not like him other than height.
