This was the first preseason game that I really got a chance to watch from start to finish.  The three off-season acquisitions all looked really impressive.  Turner, Thornton, and Zeller look like they are going to be solid contributors for us this season.

I'll be honest, I didn't have much love for any of them coming in, but they all look like guys who know how to play, and who have a lot to prove.  Looks to me like they might prove it.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Thornton can just fill it up.
Zeller had his best game as a Celtic.
Turner was on as usual.

Of course the Caveat is this is only preseason.
However it was good to see.

I think Jeff Green is looking expendable with Turner and Thornton both being able to fill scoring roles for us.  If we can move him as part of a package for a good defending big, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Green + Sullinger for Hibbert??

Unlike last year, this team has some offensive weapons.  Not enough yet, but scoring the ball won't be a problem.  Stevens has to be happy because at least he's got some moving parts to coach finally.  Last year's team was so limited offensively and defensively that I'm sure he came to the realization pretty quickly that nothing the coaches did was going to matter much in terms of winning games.

New guys are nice redundant additions.  We'll be a bottom 5 team this year, but it'll be fun to see if maybe 1 guy breaks out.  Season is going to be rough.

I thought so too, but I think they're finally going to be able to do a few things that teams will have to prepare for.  Having a guy like Turner who can at least get to the basket, is something they've been lacking and Thornton gives them a knock down 3 point shooter, which they have not had.  And Smart can play.  Granted they're not exactly competition for Cleveland but I think they've got enough to finish higher than last year and maybe sneak into the 8th spot if Ainge swings a trade that does something about their lack of rim protection.

I really doubt they'll be a bottom 5 team this year.....

Will you be down to bet $ on this?

Rondo/Thornton/Turner/KO/Hibbert as the starting 5?

Could be a bottom 3 team this year.  I think there's some interesting things about this team, though.  Danny has them very much set up for a trade eventually.

I feel pretty much the same .

The one thing they bring ...is HEALTH .....three sturdy , injury free guys .....unlike a lot of Celtics who seem to be injury prone

Zeller is young and seems well suited to playing a lot of minutes
They can contribute minutes ...so maybe our youngest guys can learn the NBA routine without visiting the doctors office every other game.

It's possible we lose 9 out of our first 10 games. Everyone knows how brutal the opening stretch is. Personally I think the Bucks will finish above us this year. They have a good mix of scoring on the perimeter and interior defenders.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

DA did not panic and made nice additions with little or no, loss of resources.

Smart and Young show promise.   Oly and Sully seemed improved.   Zeller just had a good game.   Thornton is pretty decent.   Turner rehab is going decent.  I do not think they are world beaters though.

Thornton and Turner have been better than expected.  very pleasantly surprised.  Zeller finally had a decent game.  not ready to jump on his bandwagon yet considering how bad he was the first 2 games.

Thornton and Turner have been just as expected. The problem is after watching the Celtics in 2013-14, it's easy to forget what an average NBA player looks like.

You picked a great first game to watch Zeller.  Up until now he looked like he was playing himself out of the rotation.

Thornton on the other hand, looks like he'll score double digits every game if you give him some shots.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale
