When asked what he likes about Smart, Bradley said, "He doesn't gamble."

In other words, he's not Rondo.

I would take Rondo over Smart any given day... And I'm sure 29 other GM's would agree too.

If that is what you're implying that Smart> Rondo.

I still think Smart is best suited as a SG that defends the stronger or quicker man, cuts, finishes/drives, and takes the open shot while playing solid defense.

Rondo is washed up.
He can't even get on the court and when he did last year he didn't play well.
I would have traded him over the off season.

Both the OP and Chris22 have said Rondo is a average backup PG or worse at times. Of course they like a lottery PG more than Rondo.

Your comment said enough for me.

Agree 100%.

Fafnir despite the shooting woes, what do you think about a Smart/Rondo duo? Bradley comes off as a sixth man off the bench. I think Smart is the type of player that can improve his shooting.

You think Smart can improve his shooting this season? That would be quick.

two preseason games, one where smart didn't score a point, and you are ready to ship rondo out.  classic over-reaction, classic jumping the gun.  just amazing.  smh
He was probably ready to ship Rondo out before any preseason games.

Some people already have hardened positions and then they post them after any game that makes they think supports them. They are also silent when games show the opposite.

No, I think in 2-3 years it'll be a lot different.

He has decent form, but just needs to fix the dip/mechanics.

Smart has great work ethic, so I feel like any inconsistencies with his game is something hes committed to fixing.

yep ^^^  i think people have forgotten how good rondo is and how dominant he can be.

Yeah, surrounded by three future hofs.

Steve kerr, Jim paxon also looked good playing alongside legends

Another question is , in crucial parts of the game who do you put out on the floor?? Rondo or smart?  You want the opposing pg to have an easier time getting through the defensive set making it hard on everyone else on your team or you want a guy like smart to take care of business vs pgs and prevent the opposing team from getting set up properly?

Who do have confidence will do a better job slowing down guys like westbrook, drose, paul, parker?
When did Kerr or Paxson ever look dominant? You should think your ideas through before posting.

I wouldn't want to start that unit, I think Rondo/Smart can and will play together but having Smart off the bench will allow to match up better against what other teams do.

I'd rather he get as many minutes at PG as possible. The shooting will definitely be a problem if Rondo/Smart are the two guards. Need shooting at two other positions for sure.

He was ready to ship out Rondo for as long as I can remember from any of his posts.  This post isn't about facts or ability or history, it is just hyperbole about Rondo and Smart.  I guess it is dumb for me to expect a more thoughtful approach.

This rondo issue has been 2 years in the making.  We play better without him and other than controlling the clock, he doesnt add much to the team.  This is a young team that needs to move forward with it;s young players and trade Jeff Green and Rondo.  We'll be better long term.

i don`t disagree about the longterm and i`m not against trading RR
But saying that Cs play better without him and he only controls the clock... wow

i'm a long-time opposition to having Rondo but I have to disagree with this topic of discussion. Rondo is proven is a much better player to run this team.

My big issue with a Rondo return is I hope he doesn't over-think the game knowingly he has young players to play along with. The game will really be slowed down (almost orchestrated like). I hope when Rondo comes back he treats running plays as secondary and fast breaking, scoring quickly before team defense sets as 1st priority. 80% Freeball and 20% Plays.

With 2 minutes in the game left .....Rondo and Turner need to be on the court ......between them , well get a good last minute shot .  They with Green and Sully standing under the bucket will give us a good chance to score that last minute , when last year we couldn't 't finish a game.
