Anyway, it is now 5 am over here, and half of Athens is now supporting Houston (due to the Papanikolaou connection). I won't be answering phone calls tomorrow.

People complaining about Sully should take a good look at what Noel has been doing.
I've watched Philly's first two games, and even without being a fan that was painful...

I'm not going to get too down after one loss, but this was certainly disappointing. I hope they can try to get it together and perform better on Monday in Dallas.

TP! Who knows what happens in '10-'11 if we didn't trade Perk for Green and what turned out to be Fab Melo?

Marcus Smart shoots like a guy in-bounding a soccer ball!

Nothing would have happened because Perk had missed half a season with knee injury and had only just come back...and IIRC then got injured again in OKC after he arrived there.

So we still would have sucked, just means we would have sucked a lot sooner (without Jeff Green) and the rebuild probably would have started one season earlier...plus we probably would have received less value for Pierce and KG (we were lucky with the timing of that Brooklyn deal).

That's just silly.

We are obviously going to be better than we were last season - we lost noting of significant value and improved in a number of ways.

Today we just had bad shooting night - everybody has them.  We shot 1-25 and it was one of the worst officiated games I've seen in years, and still we still make a number of good runs...just couldn't sustain them long enough.

Every time, no matter how good, has had nights like tonight. Nights where it seemed there was a lid on the basket and the shots just wouldn't fall.  Boston played a decent game, got a ton of easy layups and wide open shots that would have fallen on any other day...they just didn't go in.

We almost didn't make a three point shot in an entire game.  I'm not sure everyone gets how bad that is.

yes, we had a bad shooting night. but you better get used to it under Brad Stevens not much has changed from last yr. because basically everyone has the green light to shoot even guys who shouldn't be shooting from outside. just like last yr. guys are shooting early in the shot-clock and when we hit those everyone's thinking we're winning the championship. but in reality those are bad shots and when we aren't hitting those bad shots you get games like this game.

the game plan was absolutely horrible last night. why start out doubling Dwight Howard? he's not Kevin McHale down low, in fact he might miss the shot if no one picks him up. we should have forced him to score a few baskets before we doubled him, instead we let him find the open 3 pt. shooters early so they got in a groove early...big mistake.

then offensively we didn't even consider challenging them down low. this was something we saw a lot of last yr., I call it the "hot potato offense". when a perimeter player(usually Bradley) has the slightest bit of daylight they shoot the ball. and now Rondo is getting in on the scheme. NO REBOUNDERS? NO PROBLEM! SHOOT THE BALL!

ohh and I know a lot of folks are thinking KO got into foul trouble and that's why we didn't see a lot of him after those quick fouls....well that's part of it. expect many more games like this with KO.

I understand the concept of "you have to keep shooting them". which is true. but at some point as a team you have to say we need to get the ball in the basket. the best way to do that is to take it to the basket.

players misunderstand the term "you have to keep shooting them" sometimes. yes you do but sometimes you have to work harder to take better shots.

The chances of a team shooting 3's at 33,3% losing 23 3's in a row are 2/3 raised to the 23rd= 0.00009%. Even if we assumed the C's are a 25% team the chances would still be ridiculously low. This game was an outlier and this is why I would be very reluctant to draw meaningful conclusions from it.

I don't disagree but the issue I think is that we have very little slashing and scoring talent on our team and the other team had Dwight Howard.  Rondo is really our only player besides occasionally Turner, Green that can slash into the paint and Rondo has big issues with Howard I felt like.  So yes, go to the rim, but if you can't, you have to hit those shots and we just didn't.  I don't think we will be good enough otherwise to survive bad three point shooting nights.  Especially with Dwight locking down the paint.  Luckily there aren't many Centers like him around.

Everyone talks about how we don't have a real Center or rim protector and that's true but this is why I think our biggest missing thing is a guy who can reliably slash to the rim and create his own shot.  That would make our offense at least really balanced.  We have spacing from our shooting but we can't really exploit it.  Sully does off post ups but hard to post him up with Howard in play.

I'm loving Obie ball part deux.  I didn't get my fill the first time around.

good one! it does seem a lot like obie ball. Sully plays the role of Antoine, Bradley = eric Williams, still no pierce though.
