I definitely have nothing against Turner.  I just think people should at least wait a little while before crowning him a savior of sorts.  He played well against a team he should've played well against.  If he can keep that up throughout the entire preseason and into the season, then that's entirely different.  Otherwise, the game he had last night really isn't different from what we've seen him do in the past.  Everyone knows he has that potential; the issue is whether he can deliver like that on a consistent basis.  So far, not only has he not proven that he can, but he's all too often put up performances at the other end of the spectrum.

Turner has always been a talented player.
However he's a poor man's Rudy Gay, which means he will wow you with some great moves, but in the big picture he's an uneffective chucker. He's favourite shot is the mid-range two, shooting from awkward position close to the basket ala Jordan Crawford. That's not an effective weapon. He's not a good shooter and his defense is bad.
I know he looked pretty good in a preseason game against the worst team in the NBA. Lets see what will he do in the regular season. He has talent, but I'm not betting on him ever being more than a roleplayer.

OP, I think you are taking realistic opinions on Turner and turning them, in your mind, to hate. I have read both threads and a bunch of stuff about Turner on this site. I haven't read hate. What I have mostly read is what one would expect to read about a player that has done what he has done in the league thus far. He has his good points(excellent cheap contract, above average rebounder for his size, good passing ability, mindset to score) and he has his bad points(so so defender at best, below average shooter, inefficient scorer, sloppy handles, prone to bad decisions).

He is what he is. He had a good game. He's going to have bad games. He will make a good addition to the bench.

My worry about him is the rumors of him not being the best player in the locker room(I am being nice.) Maybe hitting free agency and only being able to get a make good two year $3 million a year contract will change his attitude some. Time will tell.

But for now, good game Evan. Keep it up against real competition during games that count please!

To paraphrase Shakespeare, we come to bury Turner, not to praise him.

I am fully aware that his good performance was only against the 76ers, but it saddens me that so many want to throw him under the bus already. If he underachieves in the regular season then by all means let's criticise. Until then both camps may as well save their hot air for breaking wind.

Jeff Green didn't play, and he's injury prone, let's trade him! :)

I like Turner better than Green already.  His dribbling skills are top notch.  Even better than PP.  He made a few ppl look silly yesterday. He just needs to cut down his TO a tad more.

He looks in great shape. Prob the best shape he has ever been in the NBA. He looks serious about proving doubters wrong.

Those few athletic finishes over Sim and even Noel shows to me , he could prob finishes over anybody in this league.  He can twist his body in some extreme ways

Turner and Young out on the floor at the same time was too much for the 76ers to handle yesterday. Two guys about 6'7 with 7'0 wingspan is a nice luxury to have

ET will be fine

We all know his strong points: flexibility, ball handling, rebounding, scoring.
And we all know his weak points: inconsistency, bad decision making, turnovers.
Stevens is a master of improving individual players. If he did with J. Crawford he can do it with ET.
I don't expect miracles, but I think it is realistic to hope that ET will be significantly better than last year, especially in dealing with his weak points (most of which are a combination of bad habits/psychology rather than lack of skill/talent).
PS This is the most optimistic post you've seen from me for the next couple of months  8)

This is exactly how I feel as well. Stevens took Jordan freaking Crawford and mad him into a solid player for a few months last season before they traded him. I don't think it's too crazy to think that Turner, who is way more talented than Crawford, can do the same. Whether he is here long term, I don't know. But I'm extremely intrigued as to how this guard rotation will play out.

Been all in on ET from the get go. What's the criticism about? Aren't we beginning to see what kind of stuff he can bring? National player of the year back with Sully ... no brainer he has a good year.
