You're probably thinking of Thomas Hamilton.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I remember I had that basketball card pictured above, and thought he was almost 10 feet tall!  So I was pretty excited when the C's signed him, thought the C's had a real diamond in the rough with him.  M.L. Carr has done it again!

Beat me to it.

IIRC Hamilton started in the first game I ever saw in Boston while visiting on vacation.

The guy had legit skills but just couldn't seem to battle the weight (sort of like a poor man's Oliver Miller).

Thomas Hamilton, Brandon Hunter, John Bagely, Orien Greene. Some of my fave random Celtics.

It's about time this topic got its own thread.

Tommy (Heinson) said his ceiling was to be as talanted as Shaq, constantly praising his "soft hands". It was the sort of blind optimism I needed as a fan to get through that dismal season. Which segways nicely into this current season...
