Smart, Thornton and Bass were very good also. smart went 0-8 but right now he is trying to make sure he doesn't screw up running the pt, vs needing to score.  However you can tell he doesn't have exceptional quickness/athleticism to get his way offensively in the nba. He really needs to get that shot to work. Otherwise i think we might have another Tony Allen on our hands. 

James Young is the real deal. If you didn't know how the draft actually went, one would think Young went 6th and Smart 18th.  Young is going to be a good one.

Young looked great, but the Tony Allen comment after one preseason game against a pathetic 76ers team has to be the definition of hyperbole. Smart was NEVER -- repeat: NEVER -- expected to score in the NBA based on his quickness and/or baseline-to-baseline speed. It was always his ball-handling, vision, strength and elite body control that would allow him to find lanes and finish at the rim. Tonight did not suggest that such expectations couldn't be met. He hardly drove to the rim, instead focusing on facilitating and defense while only taking the open jumper when he had it.

So in other words, you jus dont agree wit his opinion right??.. Its up to smart honestly if hes going to turn into a tony allen (which isnt bad at all actually) or excell highly in the nba world. . i can sorta understand why he wpuld say that

Not really an opinion. His point is that a Tony Allen comparison is a little silly considering Smart played with more composure at the PG spot in one pre-season game than Allen has in his whole career. Nothing against Allen, but he's a SG who mainly does straight line drives. He doesn't have the same composure with the ball.

The team looked good for a period when Marcus and Avery were in the game at the same time.  I'm not discounting Bradley.  Last year he lit it up from 3 point land on more consistent basis than most of the C's. 

Zeller didn't have the court awareness I thought he would. He is supposed to be pretty good in that department.  Again, this was only one game and in a new system.  We will have to wait and see.   

Marcus looked great.  He showed he deserved to be a number 6 pick last night. 

Too many players did okay or good.  Will there be a cut to make room for Powell? 

Thornton surprised me....he and Turner seem to be legitimate scoring threats.

Maybe it was just me...did anyone notice Noels unsteady gate after one particular play.  I believe someone got fouled and he was walking toward the camera.  His knees looked they were going to buckle.  Pray his body holds up.

I have to preface my comments by saying that I listened on the radio, I did not get to watch, so the eye test may well have added additional context to my observations but it seemed to me that the veterans played the best.  Bass 15 pts/9 rebs, Thornton 14 pts, Turner big numbers.

I guess in a game like that, everyone gets numbers but it didn't not sound like any of the young players (Sullinger, Olynyk, Smart, Young) did anything surprising, good or bad.  Young may be an exception as he did well but the expectation for him is pretty low so by hitting a couple of shots (3 for eight) and generally looking good on the court (being where you are supposed to be), he gets noticed.

On the radio, Max kept harping on Olynyk about jumping sideways when he shot vs. jumping up.  He kept saying "don't long jump, high jump".  I remember that from last season.  Olynyk would try to jump around a defender instead of jump up to get space.  I like KO for what he is.

I think last night, Bass, Thornton, and Turner played as well as the young guys, probably better, but they likely won't be starters.

The performance Smart did last night does not show up in stats , you had to seriously pay attention .  It's easy to applaud  the terrific baskets of Young , ET and Bass . 

The energy Smart spent was hard core blue collar effort , every second on the court he made count to help,his team.    If he makes a few 3 s every game , he could be on his way to be a star one year.

I was amazed ,  he is 20 years old going on 27 with leadership and confidence.

I've seen a lot of his games at Stanford.

He could be a stretch 4 who can also put the ball on the floor. Problem is he's not very strong and will be physically outmatched in the NBA. It was a problem in college, and it something he needs to work at if he wants an NBA team to keep him.

Only caught the most of the 2nd half but, from what I saw, I'd say Turner, Thornton, Young, Bass, and maybe Pressey as the fifth.

I don't feel like I could get a good read on Smart defensively that 2nd half so a lot of what I saw from him was incomplete.  Offensively, he has a lot that remains to be desired.

Yea Smart game had to be gagued for all 48 minutes to get a good read on him. KO played exceptionally well I might say. He didnt force anything and played the motion pretty good. He needs to give up less shots and he wouldve been 2nd behind Turner

kind of. That one layup he made over Chris Johnson was extremely difficult. That opened up the floodgates

Super excited about Young. I hope we keep him around for a long time.
