I hated Donny and I thank God he's gone.  I like Scal and think he'd be fine as Tommy's replacement.  I pray Tommy can figure out a way to last another 20 yrs.  Cous stopped several yrs ago.  I wouldn't be surprised to see Scal even with Mike and Tommy and to travel with Mike.

I couldn't stand Donnie Marshall.

Do you know he played with Ray Allen?  Oh, wait a minute, of course you do because Donnie would bring it up all the type.  Donnie was so generic.

Scal, on the otherhand, very good.  Probably the successor to Heinsohn.
totally agree.  couldn't stand Donnie Marshall.  too generic and could not go 5 minutes without dropping someone's name as someone he played with.   just horrible.

I don't recall hearing Scal drop any names during his broadcasts.  very personable on air as well as knowledgeable.  too bad his playing talent didn't match his broadcasting talent.

back when I played with Ray Allen at UConn, this and that. He talks more about his time playing with Ray Allen or at UConn than the game

Coz didn't just "stop,". He was let go.  I know I was upset by it and fired off a few letters, to no avail.

Donnie Marshal was professional but he was very bland. He was the anti-Tommy, you could say, where Tommy is very emotionaI and unprofessional... And thats why most of us love Tommy.

I like Scal, he's a weird person. He says things you can't predict and also has a high BBIQ. I don't know if he's right long term but he deserves a shot IMO.

Also, how do you replace Gorman when that time comes? Its not fair, things changin'.

Cooz was a bit too negative I think for the powers that be.  He tended to criticize players - which is a no no these days.  I'm ok with Tommy as long as he doesn't go into PR mode.  I hate when he tries to hype a crappy team rather than telling it like it is...but the purpose of the local broadcast is  to sell the product.

Gorman is probably the best local PBP guy in the league.  If you want to hear horrid announcing watch a few games on NBA TV when they pick up the local feeds.  Some of these local broadcast teams are just brutal.

Agreed.

Knicks announcers come to mind immediately.

Huh? They have one of the best pairs... not a fan of Breen though, but Walt Frazier is awesome.

Loved Cous.  When Mike, Tommy and Cousy were the TV team it really was the best of all worlds.  Mike was steady as the play-by-play guy; Cous was the cerebral analyst who loved the C's but would solemnly tell you the truth about what he was seeing; and of course, Tommy was there for energy and homerism.  I think they all played off each other well.

I also like Scal.  Answer for replacing Gorman...you can't.

I grew up listening  Johnny Most...first on radio (before there was much basketball on tv) and later watching tv while listening  to  Johnny on the radio.  They couldn't replace him and when Tommy and Mike are both gone, I will again have to shop media outlets looking for an acceptable replacement, while mumbling under my breath about the "good old days."

It was nice to hear from Cous a few times a year but in his last several years it was apparent that he didn't watch NBA games or follow it at all.  It seemed like he was always seeing every player for the first time.  He should have done at least a little preparation before going on the air.
