I am from SW Indiana, not too far from where Bird grew up and during the 1980s watched the Celtics all the time.  I remember Gorman and Heinsohn being the broadcasters on SportsChannel New England and if i recall correctly they were still broadcasting about ten years or so ago.

My question is simply- are Gorman and Heinsohn still the Celtic broadcasters on TV?

For home games yes.

and for away games, Gorman travels with the team to broadcast away games. I think because of health issues, Heinsohn doesn't travel far anymore

And by any chance does Bob Cousy make an appearance every so often?

Has anyone said if Scal is doing the away games yet?

I could see him being groomed for Tommy's spot. He can't do it much longer. I love Tommy, but he's getting a little slow on some of the parts of the game. Still has more knowledge than most guys doing games, but the last few years he's been slipping were Mikes still has it.

Scal did a great job a couple years ago filling in. He knows a lot of the current players, and how the game is played today. And he has that dry sense of humor thats really funny.

JMO, if I hear Scalabrine doing color, I am going to scream.

I know alot of people here really like him, but I just have a hard time taking him seriously.

Personally, I liked Donnie Marshall.

I haven't heard or seen Cousy do a game in quite a while, so I don't believe so.

I couldn't stand Donnie Marshall.

Do you know he played with Ray Allen?  Oh, wait a minute, of course you do because Donnie would bring it up all the type.  Donnie was so generic.

Scal, on the otherhand, very good.  Probably the successor to Heinsohn.

Donnie Marshall is easily one of the worst I've seen.

Yeah I don't understand how anyone could dislike Scal. He's one of the few players who can quickly break down a play fast enough to work, but he's not so far removed from his playing days that he gets reduced to platitudes -- as much as I appreciate Tommy's enthusiasm, that's pretty much all the dude does.

I don't mind Marshall either, although the name dropping is kind of excessive.

Also, I heard Donny was a pro once. I heard he might have played with some Celtics. Did you know that?
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

totally agree.  couldn't stand Donnie Marshall.  too generic and could not go 5 minutes without dropping someone's name as someone he played with.   just horrible.

I don't recall hearing Scal drop any names during his broadcasts.  very personable on air as well as knowledgeable.  too bad his playing talent didn't match his broadcasting talent.

Marshall was horrible. he was on the level of Tom Tolbert on ESPN.

Scal's ok.
