Most reporting that he intends to sell a minority share and keep control of the franchise. But Zach lowe said this:

Quote
Would not shock me if Prokhorov's full Nets stake came on the table in the not-so-distant future.

I know these whisperings have been bouncing around for the past few months. I'm getting increasingly excited about those Nets picks in 2016, 2017 (swap), and 2018. Curious to hear what others have to say.

Bought the team for some 200 million or so and hoping to sell for 2 billion now. Dang.

talk about a return on investment   :o  after seeing what Sterling got for the Clips, I would have to think a number of owners would be thinking about cashing in at this point.

I may be jumping the gun in terms of getting excited about those Nets picks, but I would think that if he sells the franchise, the next owners are less likely to spend as heavily as him and the team could head in the downward spiral I've been predicting.

That's what I'm thinking.

Take out the $200M and this is like the keeper league fantasy owner that joins your league, guts his team with a trade where he grossly overpays, then bails the next season --- leaving the next GM with a mess.

Then run them into the ground so that the Celtics can REALLY benefit from those draft picks!!

Fixed it for you.

Anyway this seems like good news for us, since the first thing a new owner's likely to want to do is get out of the luxury tax, and they're less likely to have the sunk cost fallacy about the picks that the group that made the trade might have had.  It's still a little annoying that Prokhorov might make an obscene profit despite mismanaging the team about as thoroughly as any owner's done in a short timespan.

In the three years prior to Prokhorov purchasing the Nets they won 80 games and were coming off a 12 win season.  In the four years since they have won 139 games (144 adjusted for a full 82 game season 3 years ago), including back to back playoff appearances and the Nets winning a playoff series for the first time in 8 years.

And here's the thing if Lopez and Williams are healthy next year would anyone really be surprised if they made a deep playoff run or even made the finals.  There is still plenty of talent on the Nets.  Sure they have a huge payroll, but there have been results on the floor.  Isn't that what you want from your owner.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah

no disagreement there.  they can have a great year next year and wouldn't bother me in the least.  it's the following year I really hope they go off a cliff and then continue that for another 2 years

With the pricetag NBA franchises are now, why not. Easy hundreds of millions of dollars in profit right there

I'm not sure all the NBA teams are the money makers a FEW are .

The two huge markets of LA and NY might support this dramatic increase in valve , but I think people will see many teams are not as well thought of .....as a total pot of gold.
