Personally, I don't belive this as I think him going back to Cleveland was probably in the works regardless of how the finals resulted.

I think that Cleveland landing the #1 pick was more important, but I think James would've had to think long and hard about breaking up a team that'd just won the first threepeat since Shaq and Kobe.

It's interesting to consider.

He would've had an excellent shot to do something neither Jordan or Kobe did, get a 4Peat.

In the big picture of things, accomplishing that would be huge when you stacked him against those two.

Also, another thing to consider;  would he have gone back to Cleveland if they hadn't won the draft lottery?

LeBron, burning bridges again, but that's ok because he is LeBron James and the whole world wants him

That's hardly surprising. The worse the beating they took in the finals was, the more likely he was to bail.

I just feel like Lebron is as shrewd of a businessman as he is a talented basketball player.

Between him and his agent (or agents), I wouldn't be surprised if his departure from Cleveland to Miami in 2010 followed by his retun in 2014 was methodically planned as far back as went he left Cleveland.

Leave your hometown, let them (here goes that word again) rebuild and reshape their roster while you form a superteam in Miami and win championships.

Then come back home four years later and make yourself seem like an endearing hero while your home team is in better shape than it was before with young talent and desirable trade chips (like the no 1 pick.)

Why else would there be an opt-out clause in his contract for this summer?

It just screams of Lebron's "brand."

If they would've won, he would have opted into the last 2 years of his contract and then gone back to Cleveland in 2 years.

Yeah, I think he would have felt obligated to stay and defend his titles and go for the four-peat. That would have been his chance to elevate himself to the Jordan level.

Not Bird, not Magic, not Kareem, not Shaq, not Duncan, not Kobe, not even Jordan (technically) ever won four straight.

Instead, he 'only' won 2 of 4. Might as well go back to Cleveland and try to be the hero and won Cleveland's 1st title in any sport in an extremely long time, let alone the Cavs 1st.

Lebron is a turn-cloak . He will go wherever gives him the chance to win. When CLE got the first pick again then again then again....he decided that was the best place to win

Nodding my head in agreement to all these replies. He tapped Kevin Love on the shoulder from the word go and knew he would be walking into another super team-up situation. Easy option and he gets an extra strong helping of the insufferable media adulation to boot.

May he be destined to fail.

He was gone the moment the Cavs won the lottery again.   This time they have a legit star guard in Irving ...Miami wouldn't fire Wade .....so LeBron saw no way of bringing in another star with money Hogg Wade still there..

So hope heat fan are happy watching a crippled old Wade play out his final years eating up contract space and running off LeBron.

I predicted this happening the moment Cavs got the pick.  ...it was the only choice that LeBron had yo move into situation to win it all soon.

If the Cavs don't also win in 2015 and 2016, Bronbron will also bolt. How ironic would it be if he ended up with us or with the spurs;
