He just doesn't have enough hops.

Certainly in the "top group" though. Really has defensive positioning down well. Regrettably, suffers through many mismatches as the season progresses. Too many NBA pf's are longer and have more leap than the Sulmeister.

One of my favorite C's though.....why the F do they make him shoot so many threes? Draft position?

Stevens..."Hey Sully? Go shoot some threes." The issue is he telling him to do this during actual games.

Bird Averaged 10 RPG with subpar hops.   Moses Malone and Bill Laimbeer were not high flyers but exceptional rebounders.   Dennis Rodman never won any dunk contests either and was a superb rebounder.  Duncan is not a leaper.

Hops help but it is hardly the end all of rebounding.  There is still room for a big bottom, desire and good hands.

Sully has a lot of the tools whether he mans up and plays where he is dangerous is another thing.

Rebounding is 80% about hustle and 20% clearing space. The guys you think of as top rebounders in the league (David Lee, KLove, ZBo, Cousins, Al Jeff, and Noah) arent gonna be flying over ppl for the boards. It's all about your positioning when the ball is on the way up.
That being said, if Sully showed an ounce more hustle this year, his giant base will give him plenty of chances for 11boards a game
