what would your reaction be if the C's actually made the playoffs next year?

I've seen so many different POV's on how people feel about the possibility of the C's making the playoffs.  everything from really positive "of course they'll make the playoffs" to apocalyptical "Danny better do everything possible to make this team as bad as possible".

Thought I'd throw something together to see the general sentiment on the site.  Please share your thoughts.  Not looking for the comments saying it'll never happen, just feedback on what your reaction would be if it did.  Wondering if people would be happy (regardless of the level of shock) or miserable.

I too would be happy that the team exceeded my expectations.  I would also need to reflect on how my assessment of the team's talent could be so far off-base.

I partially agree. At the same time there are a lot of older die hard fans here (not including myself)  who rather see the Celtics to a legit rebuild and not cut corners to become relevant again. Look at the hawks for instance. !st to 2nd round team their for idk how many years.

It really goes both ways, you can tank n hit the draft (like philly), or you can play hard and hope a Big Al type player comes out to help based on the given talent (like Charlotte).. Also might be the difference in Rondo staying or not!

I personally would rather see them in the playoffs btw . winning games really comes down to if JEff Green is deciding he can be that guy yet.. if not playoff chances are slim

yeah, i'll take offense to this. because I don't want this team making the playoffs if it's because they're the best of the worst. I want them to have deserved it. have a winning record.

I do agree with this. I want the team to make the playoffs because they're good, not because they're the least worst.

Horrible. It would keep us in NBA purgatory longer. That short term excitement of making the playoffs would be gone after we lose the 1st round in 5 games. We are not a championship team yet. Sometimes you have to swallow your pride for a few years and shoot for draft picks.

My reaction would be WOOOOOOOO. I like watching the games, and if the team is actually competitive it makes doing so more enjoyable. If the C's make the playoffs it will be on the backs of Rondo and their young guys, meaning that we have good young talent that will get better or increasing the value of our trade assets.

I'm not a fan of the purgatory argument. Not when we will have multiple picks and a ton of cap space to improve the team. To stay in purgatory a team needs to not improve.

To avoid being like the Hawks, you have to avoid committing to players like Joe Johnson and Josh Smith.  It probably didn't help that they had three consecutive top six picks where they took Josh Children, Marvin Williams, and Shelden Williams when the next guy taken after those guys were Luol Deng, Deron Williams, and Brandon Roy.  Tanking like Philly and getting a string of good picks could make you end up like Atlanta.

Tanking should be a last resort for when you have screwed the team up so badly that you have no other choice.
