  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.

Rumor was that the Golden State Warriors *almost* went through with a trade for Brandon Bass earlier this offseason that would net the Celtics a trade exception.
Now his house is on the market. Says the house was listed earlier this summer.
Does this mean a deal is in place or he's preparing for a likely move? If he does stay on the team, I guess he could sell and rent in Boston for a year before his deal expires.

BOSTON -- Boston Celtics starting forward Brandon Bass is on the move.

At least in terms of finding a new living area.

A source has told CLNS Radio that the nine year NBA veteran has placed his abode in Needham, MA on the market.  This took place over the course of the summer.

Since coming over from the Orlando Magic in a sign-and-trade for Glen "Big Baby" Davis, Bass has been the team's stalwart at the starting power forward position for nearly his entire three years in Boston.

In three seasons in Boston, Bass has started 181 of 222 games and has averaged 10.6 PPG, 5.7 RPG, while shooting at a 48% clip and posting a 13.8 PER.

However, Bass is turning 30 at the end of the coming season and doesn't figure to be in the Celtics' long-term plans.  With Jared Sullinger and Kelly Olynyk expected to play an even bigger role for the Celtics in 2015 -- it would be tough to include Bass in the mix.

Reports from Zach Lowe of Grantland earlier in the summer had the Celtics shopping Bass to Golden State.  However, a deal was unable to be completed.

While Bass may still be a Celtic, it's clear that they want to go in a different direction regarding one Brandon Bass.  And apparently Bass has gotten the memo too.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

sounds like it. Unless he wants to rent for one year around the Boston area and pay a fortune. Or live at a hotel, again which is expensive.

I, for one, will miss Bass, but know that he has to go (unless Sully and/or Oly are moved in a bigger deal, and we can contend soon, which is unlikely).

He has been very much a professional in his whole tenure here and has done everything asked of him. He and KG worked that D and those rotations very well together, which is why that I thought the Nets would be a good fit.

underrated guy. plays hard on D too and i remember him having his moments against i think carmelo or even lebron during playoffs in years past. not that he shut them down - but played tough solid D on them and bothered them.  hard to believe they cant find a taker for him - unless its bc other teams know they might just be able to get him for practically nothing very soon so they're just waiting for that.  definitely still has good years ahead of him and could b a very nice addition to a team needing role players.

With developing of assets being a priority, which having Bass hurts KO and Sully,  one has to wonder if DA doesn't have a deal in place.

Bass has one of best mid range jumpers I have ever seen.   Some games it seems like he never misses.

Yea Bass is underrated.  He has done a decent job on both Melo and LeBron... I think the guy is a 3 on defense, if he was primarily I think he would eventually be very very good at it.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I wonder if Bass gave his realtor's name to Rondo.

I was actually thinking that sully would have been used in love trade and we'd keep bass.  I'm fine with his game, he is a very good sub at pf unless you have him playing with a great group then he's fine as starter material.  I think he'll be wanted as a first big off bench by a playoff team

I'm just waiting for Jackie Mac to break the story that Bass wants out of Needham.

I always stress that one of the most under appreciated players of Celtics fans over the last 5 years is Brandon Bass.
One of my favorite stats is in 2010-11 and 2011-12, Brandon Bass was THE BEST shooter in the NBA from 10-15 feet. KG and Dirk were 2nd and 3rd. They shared the top 3 in that range for 3 seasons.

That's why we almost beat the Heat in 2012- sticking KG and Bass on the elbows and letting them drain jumper after jumper creating space for Rondo/Pierce and Avery to attack/slash to the rim.
Also helped them get back on defense faster because they already had a 10-15 foot head start on the inbound passer.

Doc never got enough credit for that brilliant strategy.

great first point about developing assets. which goes with what I've been saying all along, that we need to choose a direction. either we're going to going to be a playoff team or not. we know we're not with Bass. he's useless to us in accomplishing the goal of getting better.

and we can't trade the young guys and use them as assets if teams don't know what they're getting...doesn't help if we don't know either. only way you know is if you play 'em.

oh and bass's mid-range jumper is great. but in todays NBA I wonder if other teams see this more as a weakness than a strength?

You didn't get the memo?  Or email would be more appropriate in this day and age.
