Preseason coming up and Roster is still not yet finalized

When does Danny have until he needs to cut Johnson, Babb and make other subtractions to finally sign Turner and prepare this roster for the Pre season??

I wish also we didn't have one of Fav or Anthony, Wallace and  don't really care for Thornton.  Bass also is expendable.

Danny could tidy this roster situation up quickly if he just traded Rondo and attached Bass/Wallace to his ankles.

After preseason.  You don't need a finalized set roster for preseason, it's really just a continuation of training camp.  Often teams only play their starters 15 minutes or not at all and give guys like Sweetney an oppurtunity/money so their agents owe them a favor.

The deadline is, I believe, the day before the season tips off.

I think DA is keeping his options open to move players or assets at the last moment possible.  For various trade schemes he is still waiting to play out .  He may have inside info on certain GMs interest in certain players.

I think they have to wait till September 9 or 10th to move Thornton which I believe will happen along with some other players. Then they can add Turner.

If Rondo is traded (which I think probably both unlikely and undesirable), attaching Wallace would be a terrible idea.  His inclusion in such a trade would decrease the assets we received in exchange, while clearing his salary would accomplish nothing for us.

I think Turner stands to be paid more if he waits for the unguaranteed guys to be waived. Today the Celtics are over the tax limit and Turner would be limited to 3 million and change per year.

Once Bogans,  Babb and Johnson are gone, the Celtics will be almost 5 million under the tax. That is just about the mid level exception.

So Turner probably has a guarantee for 3 million per year, with a handshake promise to give him close to the full MLE if the roster shakes down without any additional trades.
