#Celtics president Rich Gotham on rumored Rajon Rondo trade demand: "If he's made that demand it hasn't been directed to the Celtics."

Rich Gotham on Rondo: "I've not heard (about wanting out). Rajon's been working out all summer. He's been here. This is his home." #Celtics

Gotham added, "it's more of an issue for the media than it is for us. We have a good sense of reality in relation to Rajon and all of our players. We don't get caught up in the rumor mill or any of that stuff. What we focus on with Rajon is getting him ready to play. What we want to see is the Rajon rondo from 2011, 2012, back in his best form. That's what gets us excited. When we talk to Rondo, that's what we talk about. We're not talking about trades."

I'm not doubting what Gotham is saying.

However, at the same time, would he actually come out and say "Yeah, Rondo is demanding we trade him"?

Public relations 101.

I do agree with him that its much more of an issue for the media, though.

"It was news to me," Celtics president Rich Gotham told CSNNE.com during a break as one of the Celtics volunteers, along with Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and City Year, participating in the service day at Hennigan Elementary School. "It [a trade request] has not been communicated to us by Rajon."

maybe it's just me, but Rich Gotham sounds angry from those quotes...like

"what? he said what? I never heard of such a thing! You [dang] media stop making things up" kinda thing

I believe there's some merit to what Rich is saying. Would he say anything different, probably not, but I think the front office and coaches are genuinely excited to see Rondo healthy (physically and mentally) from the ACL tear and playing without thinking about his injury. Then they can really determine the road they want to take.

This statement does not exclude the possibility of Rajon's agent informing the celtics of a trade request.  Really nitpicking here, but semantics are important to people who want to avoid telling the truth without lying.

As Donaghus mentioned, you can't put much faith in these quotes because under no circumstance right now would Gotham admit that Rajon has demanded a trade.

It also doesn't account for more or less what Jackie implied i.e. Rondo wants out if Boston doesn't get a contender quickly.  Meaning Rondo wants to play out the year and see how the summer goes, but will leave if Boston goes full on rebuilding.

At the end of all this "he said" "she said" there are some pretty simple (and what I would call ) easy to except facts.

1. If the team sucks Rondo will want to be traded, I think he legit has a good relationship with the owners and DA and wont make this a diva situation like others stars have.

2. The Cs will continue to try to swing for the fences and bring in a star. If they cant they will trade Rondo to a team he would  have interest in signing with. They wont sign him to big money if the roster isn't set up to win in the near future.

I don't think I'll ever get over Rich Gotham's name.  Even though I'm not into comic books and superheroes etc., whenever I hear Rich Gotham I immediately think of Batman lol.

That's not what she said.  That's not what she implied.  No one could reasonably infer that from what she said.

After the Kevin Love trade rumors first surfaced this summer, I also remember Saunders stating that Love is a member of the Twolves, he will not be traded , and he will be starting the season as a Twolves member.

No, Jackie made it all up, we've always been at war with Eurasia.

Jackie never said that Rondo "demanded" a trade, only that he wants out rather than to stay on for the Celtics rebuild. Yet all of the denials are denials that he "demanded" a trade.

That said, the market may be so poor for him right now that Danny waits or even lets him walk rather than take back players for a price he doesn't want to pay.

Rich Gotham however continued to dodge questions about his kick-ass name and alleged super hero alter-ego, "Denial Man". Is he hiding something??
