There is no way the Heat can acquire Green without giving up a key player.  Not enough salaries available.

Who would you want in return?  Napier lol?  Deng?  Granger?  The salaries, never mind the exchange of talent, just wouldn't be equal, unless that doesn't matter haha.  If Wade didn't have terrible knees and was still in his 2010-12 form, Green would arguably make a great sidekick, but it's 2014, and Dwyane can't even play a full season (despite limited minutes) anymore, so I don't see how it would work.  The best place for Jeff is Memphis, imo. 

Btw, are they hiring?

I translate it for you. Heat wants a veteran wing player for the vet minimum for depth reasons. (They don't have any more room salarywise)

If they had the contracts to match salary, I'd consider trying to sell them on Marcus Thornton.  The article linked to suggests that the Heat want a wing who can score one-on-one off the dribble.

Of course, they don't have the necessary contracts.

Miami has Deng to start at 3 with Granger to back him up.  I don't see any reason they would want Green.  Where they need depth is SG.  Right now they have Wade who is expected to need plenty of rest along the way.  If they really aspire to compete, they need a starting caliber SG to pair with Wade (Thornton could certainly fit the bill) although I don't see where much salary can fit in.

Which makes me wonder why they didn't sign and trade James to Cleveland.  If nothing else the  trade exception would have been very useful for them.

Like others have said I dont think Green is really the fit they would be looking for.

On a differnt note every time I look at the heat roster I cant figure out why they at least didnt make an offer to Monroe. Rather then go after Deng I would have made a hard push for Monroe figuring he is the exact kind a big that fits next to bosh.
