Question About NBA League Pass

Quick question

So, I have DISH Network and just found out that DISH no longer carries Comcast SportsNet New England because Comcast raised the rates of the station, thus DISH didn't want to raise the prices for it's customers.

Now, I am stuck no longer having the home of the Celtics.

So my question is, I am looking into getting NBA League Pass:

Does NBA League Pass carry every Celtics game?

Wasn't sure if anyone else who visits this site uses NBA League Pass to watch the Celtics.

Any feedback would be great, thanks!!

Yes, sometimes they are NBATV or ESPN  if scheduled there but most games are Tommy and Mike.

I have Dish, and we got CSNNE this past season (I'm not in NE area). Dunno if that helps.

Do you still have it? I called DISH to find out what happened and they told me they are no longer carrying CSNNE because they raised the price of the station for providers.

From what I recall, it depends where you are living and whether or not "blackout" games are enforced or not.

Apparently getting international league pass is the way to get around blackouts.

I've got ILP due to being outside US.   Not sure is there is any restrictions for domestic users.

I don't have DISH but LP comes out to about $200 after taxes. It's actually like $20 less if you get Early Bird. I don't know about DISH but my cable provider also let's you split it into 4 monthly payments, which makes the overall payment more b/c you are paying separate taxing fees but it's not much more that you'd notice.


No, they do not show every game. They show every game that doesn't come on national tv (channels like ESPN, TNT, NBATV). They also have "blackouts" and those are games that are televised on a local channel... in my area, if Celtics play Mia or Orlando I have to watch the games on the channels dedicated to showing those teams games (like FSN). Those channels are usually labeled "basic" which means you get them no matter what. With my provider I have to pay for separately for NBATV.

Given how bad Celtics were and were projected to be when making national tv schedules last season, I'd say we had less than 20 nationally televised games. The NBA puts the best teams on nat. tv the most, so don't count on us being on there more this season given the names on our roster (they make tv schedule prior to seeing how good the teams actually are). Before last season, you could probably get away with not buying LP if you weren't in a local area b/c we were on nat. tv a lot but if you want to watch a lot of the games, I think it's worth purchasing (unless you are one who didn't enjoy them last season).

You could just watch streams online for free but that's illegal and not any of my business lol.

So in other words, all NON nationally televised Celtics games would be blacked out from the League Pass because even though Dish no longer carries Comcast SportsNet, Comcast SportsNet does broadcast in my area.

Is this correct?

I think this is right. I'm from NY, and Dish doesn't carry MSG or YES (the Knicks and Nets channels). They're blacked out, AND you don't get the channels.

The web is getting better than it was for sure, but it's still annoying that you don't really get any HD games via cable.  There is 1 decent game a day on HD if you're lucky, the rest look like garbage. 

The web app got a lot better for one reason - you can toggle the scores on and off now, so you don't automatically get the results spoiled for you.  I wrote them like 10 letters a year about that and they finally fixed it

I also have Dish, and I was watching the Summer League games on CSNNE. Haven't had a reason to turn it since, though. This is not good news.

I don't know where you are located but I'm in California and I have DirecTV. just looked back on my credit card statement from last year and I made a one time payment of $164.59 for NBA League Pass. I don't know if there were any discounts involved because whenever I order a sports package I try and hit them up for some kind of promotional discount.
you get every game except the ones broadcast on ESPN, TNT, NBA NETWORK, or your local ABC feed which you automatically get with your cable or satellite package.
What's good about watching on DirecTV is that they have a feed for each team so you can get either the opposing team's announcers or Tommy and the gang.
the downside is the Lakers have their own network with Time Warner Cable and living out here I am forced to listen to their announcers.

Is it every cable provider that only offers 1 HD game a night? I've had LP for the last two years, once with Time Warner and the other with Direct TV. Like you said Time Warner only offered 1 HD game a night. Direct TV had every game in HD.

I am getting ready to move to an apartment where I can't keep my dish, and will have to switch back Time Warner which is now Comcast. I can't comprehend why a major cable provider can't figure out a way to offer every game in HD.
