Wow.  You'd think he'd have learned his lesson regarding alcohol after what happened in the past.  I'm sorry that I ever wanted him here.  Lifetime ban, party of one, please.

I'd be very surprised if this wasn't plead down to a misdemeanor.  The overwhelming majority of non-celebrities get that offer in a first offense assault; I'm sure Oden will get the same or better offer.

Look no further than Ray Rice.  If you can knock out a girl on camera then drag her around like a sack of potatoes and not do a day in jail, I can't see a felony sticking on Oden.  It isn't like he was fighting dogs or anything.

I don't know if there is an addiction issue and/or a depression issue (etc) since I don't know him, but if one of those issues exists, it speaks to the nefarius power of it.

None of that excuses a violent act, but I tend to be less aboard on a lifetime anything without more info.

If it is a mental health and/or an addiction issue, I hope this incident leads to him getting whatever help he needs. Unfortnately, these events often do not result in long-term changes to behavior if the core illness isn't really addressed.

Very disappointing.   A sad fall.  Him and Maurice Clarett are my two big disappointments.  Both had such promise.

Both from Ohio State too, oddly.

Maybe she provoked him. According to Steven A Smith that is a legitimate excuse.  :'(

Oden was just desperate to get some court time.

I would be since she sustained a fractured nose. I think this will be an all or nothing type of deal, which usually happens with domestics, either the victim is cooperative or she's not and the charges are dropped.

Oh don't pile on. I guess you have your badge for the PC police? Why don't we let people have a conversation anymore? He's an incendiary talk show host. So he said something incendiary. At core - the point that we should all treat each other with respect (if inartfully communicated) is correct.

Maybe she told him the Blazers would have been better off picking Yi Jianlin, and so would she.
