Man, this same exact MCW argument again...
I think too much is being focused on MCW's rookie numbers and ROY award, and not enough is being focused on if he's actually an asset going forward (or how strong of an asset he is).
Being ROY and/or having nice rookie numbers doesn't really matter in the broad scheme of things. If you redid the 2013 draft, do you think MCW goes top 5 now, top 3? If not, then being ROY doesn't really matter much. (Personally, I still see him outside or maybe right at the top 5, maybe Porter and Len drop and Noel, Burke, MCW move up?).
He had nice numbers as a rookie on a bad team, and so did a lot of other guys from LeBron and Durant to Tyreke Evans and OJ Mayo to Michael Beasley (and he wasn't even on a bad team), Superstars to Starters to Is-he-even-in-the-League?
Philly was already rumored to be seriously thinking about trading MCW to take either Exum or Smart. (Did Orlando, Utah, and Boston not value MCW as much as Gordon/Exum/Smart or did Philly not pull the trigger?).
Personally I see him with more of a Tyreke Evans/OJ Mayo type ceiling than anything else, although that is definitely up for debate and time will tell. I just don't see MCW as a major building block or coveted asset going forward.
