Oh, definitely. It usually pays to listen to people with expertise.

Here's an interesting Rose tidbit -- so Wall's been sent home from Team USA, obviously, and:

Quote
there are only five players among the final 16 who are widely regarded as shoo-ins for the plane that leaves for Spain on Aug. 23: Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant, Houston's James Harden, New Orleans' Anthony Davis, Chicago's Derrick Rose and Golden State's Stephen Curry.

The other 11 players competing for the final seven slots are guards Kyrie Irving (Cleveland), Damian Lillard (Portland), Kyle Korver (Atlanta), DeMar DeRozan (Toronto) and Klay Thompson (Golden State); forwards Chandler Parsons (Dallas), Kenneth Faried (Denver) and Gordon Hayward (Utah); and centers DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento), Andre Drummond (Detroit) and Mason Plumlee (Brooklyn).

So Rose is, at least by inference, outplaying Lillard, Wall, and Kyrie right now. That's more than could be said of him last year.

Supposedly Rose has been talking in interviews that he is trying to change the way he plays and not go recklessly into the lane as he used to.

If the team USA scrimmage is any indication, Rose looks pretty good. and I HOPE he is back to his normal self this year because I feel the Bulls are the one team that can oust the heat in the east

Rose/butler/Dunleavy/gasol/Noah  with Gibson/hinrich/mirotic off the bench

Why are you talking about the Heat?

brain fart :-X meant cavs

If Bulls get even a 70% Rose this season, they should win the East.  Even if Love is in Cleveland.

Good to see him bouncing back and having a solid Team USA camp.

I agree with both of these things.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Can't see the Bulls beating Cleveland even with a 70% Rose. LeBron James have dismantled him and his team in their past meeting series during the playoffs. Adding an aging Pau Gasol would probably make it worse lol.

LOL right back at you.  Firstly, Rondo laughs at everyone in this thread who gives Rose's health in percentages, because what does that even mean?  And why 70% and not 68% or 72%?  But I digress.

Anyway, the last time LeBron faced Rose in the playoffs, LeBron still hadn't won a ring, and would later get dismantled by Dirk Nowitzki. By your logic, I'm fairly sure we should have expected the Mavs to have beaten the Heat each of the last three years in the finals if they only could have made it.

On that Bulls team, our very own Keith Bogans started every playoff game, playing more minutes than Kyle Korver.  Jimmy Butler wasn't in the league yet, so the Bulls had Rasual Butler instead.  And the Heat had an in-his-prime (and fresh off of trying to remove Rondo's arm) Dwyane Wade to pair with LeBron.

And heck, if you want to go back the year before, the Cavs with LeBron beat second-year Rose (who went for 27 and 7, mind you) when Vinnie Del Negro was still coaching.

This was all so long ago as to mean nothing.

The same way that saying Rose back healthy will mean the Bulls beating the Cavs. We won't know all of this until the 2015 playoffs. History is usually relied on when it comes to matchups and the only matchups we can point to are the ones when Lebron's teams beat Rose's. Means nothing but it doesn't make the fact less true.

To be fair, the Heat are still the reigning 4-time Eastern Conference Champs.  ;D

I don't.  I think the Bulls have become a little overrated.  Their defense alone is going to stifle a lot of teams during the regular season, but I think they'll struggle to beat really good teams, like the Cavs project to have.  Their offense needs to come from somewhere, and that's going to take a really, really good Derrick Rose.

I'm glad to see Rose bouncing back, but he's going to have to be close to 100% of what he was a few years back for the Bulls to have playoff success.

C- Noah
Pf - gasol/ Gibson
Sf- McDermott/Mitotic
Sg- butler
Pg - rose

Looks like capable cavs beating team. Cavs lack a legit starting center and team outside of lebron has little to no playoffs experience. Also thib> blatt

Dunleavy will be the starting SF....at least to start the season, most likely.

Gibson should start, as well, I think.

I'm not overrating the Bulls, if anything I'm underrating Cleveland.  I'm not sure they're going to be able to perfectly mesh with Ubuntu and hit the ground running the way our 07 team did.  Miami didn't win the East their first year either.

Thibs had 48 wins last year, without Derek Rose, which was only 6 less wins than Miami's 54.  The last time they had a healthy Rose they won 62 games.  I understand some people think LeBron has had to carry Wade and Bosh anchors, and now he's going to be immediately dominant, but I don't.  At the very least, I don't think Cleveland's defense is going to be where Miami's has been.

Not to be nit-picky but, the Miami did win the East their first year together, they just didn't win the chip against Dallas.

Other than that, I agree with you. A healthy Rose makes the Bulls a great team, and now he has a more experienced defensive leader in Noah, a veteran leader in Gasol and co.

With Paul George out, I do see the Bulls and CLE in the ECF as a legit 90-95% possibility. If Rose is healthy the entire season, it will be a fun post-season to watch

I could be wrong.  Although I thought Miami's first season together was (hilariously) Rose's last healthy season.

Edit:  Oh, you mean win ECF.  I was talking about winning the regular season.
