Rules for this thread:
1) Paul George is still untouchable
2) Paul George is still worth a lot more than Jeff Green
3) Marcus Smart is worth a lot more than Roy Hibbert (who isn't worth much of anything right now)
Could the CBA gurus here check if this trade works (as online trade machines in a fluid offseason are far from reliable)?
BOS trades: Rajon Rondo, 2015 PHI 1st (or '15/'16 2nds), 2015 LAC 1st
BOS receives: David West (player option next year), 2015 IND 1st (unprotected), 2015 LAL 1st (top-5 protected with decreasing protection, from PHX), 2015 MIN 1st (top-12 protected or else '16/'17 2nds, from PHX)
IND trades: Roy Hibbert, David West, 2015 IND 1st
IND receives: Eric Bledsoe (s&t, 4y/$64m or would it be 5y/$80m?), 2015 PHI 1st, 2015 LAC 1st
PHX trades: Eric Bledsoe, 2015 LAL 1st, 2015 MIN 1st,
PHX receives: Rajon Rondo, Roy Hibbert
We'd go into the season without Rondo and develop our young guys (Smart, Bradley, Young, Sully, Olynyk being the most important... Hey, that's a pretty exciting lineup!) on our way to a top 5 placement in the lottery. Indiana would likely grab a top 7 spot while LAL would likely sit in the bottom half of the lottery (picks 7-14). We get an upgraded version of the PHI pick in MIN's pick. Then the real fun starts.
The Celtics will try to their hardest to create "fireworks" over the next 12 months. We aren't getting Love and PG/CP3/Blake or a star of similar stature becoming available is a pipe dream. I think Danny will try his best to accomplish what he couldn't do this past June: get the no. 1 pick. Let's assume the Cs' lack of luck continues and neither of the BOS/IND selections turn into the no. 1 pick on their own. The Cs would still have two very high picks to trade for the no. 1 pick and select Jahlil Okafor (our own + Indy's) in addition to owning a likely late lottery 1st from LAL. Here's a skeleton 2015-16 lineup adding Okafor and a late lottery selection and assuming the trades of Green and Bass:
Smart/??/Pressey
Bradley/Justin Jackson (LAL pick)
J. Young/[J. Jackson]/G.Wallace
Sully/Olynyk
J. Okafor/Zeller/Fav
If we got lucky and one of the BOS/IND picks turned into the no. 1 pick, we could use the other pick along with other picks at our disposal to land another top 5 pick:
Smart/??/Pressey
Bradley/J. Jackson (if we don't have to surrender the LAL pick to move up to no. 1 or to grab a #2-5 pick)
Stanley Johnson (top 5 pick)/J. Young/Wallace
Sully/Olynyk
Okafor/Zeller/Fav
I really want Okafor. He looks like a beefier, more powerful Pau Gasol. Okafor/Sully/Olynyk would be a special big men trio.
Just for fun, let's look at PHX next year with Rondo/Hibbert:
Rondo/I. Thomas
Dragic/G. Green
T. Warren/P.J. Tucker
Markieff Morris/Marcus Morris
Hibbert/M. Plumlee
Where would they land out West?
