I am looking forward to this being over. There is not much more to discuss until the actual trade details are released.

This looks to be a great trade for Minnesota.

And as much as it sucks, and it stinks... we have to give all the credit to Flip Saunders to holding out and letting the market set itself before making a decision on trading Love. We all lambasted the guy for not trading him to the Celtics for our package, however, he knew the Lebron situation would impact the Love saga and ended up with Wiggins (who will be a star) and Bennett (who could be a star) and another first round pick plus other moving parts.

Cavs lineup:

C--Varejo
PF-Love
SF-James
SG-Waiters
PG-Irving

Whos on the bench?

Those guys go down with injuries seemingly every year. Then what? Lebron lost last year, and should have lost the previous year because of organizational depth; and he basically admitted as much. Now he enters himself into a situation that again has zero organizational depth. I hope Lebron doesn't see himself as a GM once he is done playing. Love hasn't exactly been the epitome of health, himself.

I would love to see the Wolves, with ROTY and NBA MVP Andrew Wiggins, go further than Cleveland in the playoffs this year.

99.9% chance that won't happen, but how wonderful would it be?

You can't predict injuries though, and none of those guys have had any type of injury to be concerned about their long term health, except for Varejao who looks broken down. Kyrie's and Love's injuries were random injuries that happen to anyone and have no long term effects. They are both certainly in much better shape than Wade going forward.

Flip got very very lucky the Cavs got absurdly lucky this offseason. If they don't get the #1 pick (which I'm still livid about), the best offer he's getting is ours (esp if GS isn't willing to include Thompson). Interested in what the final deal ends up being. Hopefully the Cavs have to give up a few key young pieces. A team can't be as incompetent as them and keep having gifts fall into their lap. It better not be Wiggins plus trash.

Thing is if the Cavs don't get the #1 pick they could have still put together a very nice package, instead of Wiggins they still would have Waiters, Thompson, and whomever they picked at 9 this year (Vonleh went at 9 this year) plus Bennett and future 1st's which they could have combined into a package.  That is still a better package than Boston could have put together.  Just would have hurt Cleveland's depth a bit more (though with more outgoing salary they probably get Martin and maybe Barea back to help with that depth).
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

But he presumably has an owner who is more willing to pay luxury tax to give the team more depth.

Last season Miami, amnestied Mike Miller,  traded picks to salary-dump Joel Anthony, and didn't use the MLE to save money.

It's ridiculous for ownership to ask players to take team-friendly deals if they're not willing to sacrifice some profit to pay the repeater luxury tax to maintain a contending team.  That's a one-sided bargain and players shouldn't have to be the only ones giving something up.  Miami could have had a better bench last season and didn't because of money.  Arguably, that's just the luxury tax working as it was intended, but you should be able to understand why a player would lose faith in his front office's desire to win.

I think it's funny how everyone praised Lebron for going back home, and yet he's doing the same thing he did in Miami, which is form another super team.

How much you wanna bet in 2 years, if Cleveland hasn't won a title, he goes to LA and plays for the Lakers after Kobe retires and forms another super team there.

I'm not critical of Lebron forming a super team, I'm critical of how he went about it with The Decision.

Right, but in his Sports Illustrated confession, didn't he write something about wanting to go to Cleveland to play with the likes of Kyrie, Tristan Thompson, etc and saying that winning a title "wasn't going to be easy?"

He tried to play people's emotional strings with making a comment like that, and in the meantime all along he knew he was going do whatever he could to get the best players to play with him.

Again, there's nothing wrong with forming a super team, but I just think it shows how much of a fraud Lebron is.

He isn't going to leave Cleveland.  He never wanted to leave in the first place, but he couldn't even convince his friend Bosh to go there (Cleveland and Toronto had worked out a sign and trade).  It was obvious that if he couldn't convince Bosh to go there, he would struggle to convince anyone to go there, and with him on the team it was going to be very difficult to get talent through the draft (since they were always going to pick at the end of the first round) for them to be real title contenders.

Now it would have been interesting, had he stayed if Cleveland still would have made the Mo Williams for B. Diddy trade that got them the pick that became Kyrie Irving.  I don't think they do since B. Diddy was washed up then and Williams was playing well and you don't downgrade talent when you are trying to win a title.

I think Lebron only cares about himself and his brand.

The "talk" seems to be that the trade is Bennett and Wiggins for Love but that doesn't work without other pieces, right (reinforced by the announced timing and the Wiggin's jersey things)?  And certainly not if Martin is involved as well which I think has been at least speculated along the way (no, I don't have references, sorry).

I am amazed at how quiet this whole thing has been the last couple of weeks.  It shows that teams can stop leaks if they want to.
