She said that Ainge has been trying to trade Rondo on and off for the last 4 or 5 years, but Ainge will publicly say otherwise. Sacramento wanted Rondo, but the C's wanted too much in the deal and Rondo said he wouldn't re-sign there. She thinks Cousins was talking Rondo up to help convince him to re-sign there if in fact traded. She thinks Rondo will be traded. She continues by saying that Rondo wants a max deal, but he might have to back up from that. He wants to play for a big market and a contender.

I love Rondo, and genuinely hope we find a way to keep him and build a contender around him.

That said, I begrudgingly admit that it might be better to find a way to trade him. He deserves to be contending now, in his prime, rather than at its tail end in a few years, and it would be a good way to pick up assets. It is unfortunate, because Rondo is a true Celtic, but I think in the long run it would be best to trade him.

She's a decent writer and all, but I don't think she has a clue of what she's talking about here .  Rubio is saying he wants a max too, does that mean he is going to get it ?  If Danny was trying to trade Rondo for 5 years it would be done already . She makes it sound like the C's are desperate to get rid of Rondo ( from what you wrote) .

So then she says Rondo may have to back down from the max demand. So she is saying Rondo wants a max, but might not get it. WOW great insight there .....

TP.

I always felt Jackie had a dislike for Rondo, the way she constantly writes things that just doesn't seem to project Rajon Rondo at all me.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I like Jackie, but I don't get why she always paints Rondo in such a negative light.

Aside form the max contract stuff, which others have claimed, I don;t see what she said that was new.  Everyone in the league wants to play for a big market contender, We know Ainge has tried to trade Rondo at least once (CP3) and at least half the people on Earth who have heard of Rondo thinks he's going to get traded.  So what makes her have something against Rondo and/or not know what she is talking about??

I used to look forward to Jackie's take on the Celtics, but really for that last few years her analysis just seems "distant"? for lack of a better word.

I mean, it's just weird to me that she essentially came away from the Boogie Cousins interview with the exact same speculation I had and doesn't offer much more than what we've heard speculated (and denied) for years.

Even if it's true, it's nothing new. What did she exactly add to the conversation (other than her name)?

Isn't it evident that the only people that know anything are those that don't criticize Rondo?

Jackie Mac knows her bball. I'm  more inclined to believe her than Cedric Maxwell.

Neither really have much insight to the workings of the Celtics. Jackie used to have a good scoop, but as she's become more nationalized, her intimacy with the inner workings of the Celtics has been found lacking, except when she gets the exclusive interviews.

Cedric Maxwell has never had any sort of scoop, so no use believing anything he says. Doesn't mean he might not hear things.

But I don't think any of them have anything of substance to offer, as far as rumor goes.

I believe Jackie. Sometimes the truth hurts. I think Ainge has been looking fairly aggressively for a Rondo trade options. I also think that Rondo considers himself one of the best PGs in the NBA, and should be paid like one.

Nothing new or that shocking here.

We didn't want things to end with Ray Allen the way they did, but months before his departure Jackie said people aren't paying attention if they think Ray is staying with the Celtics. Sometimes the truth hurts.

It looks like she does close to a weekly segment on the radio show so she has to say something. Most of that was a re-hash of the same-old things that have been floating around for weeks. I wouldn't put much stock in it one way or the other.

I think some of the criticisms just make it seem that way.
