With his surgery, and him coming off a injury, its going to drastically cut down his value. If we offered one of our picks, and the Cavs pick, and cap filler like Bogans/Bass, would the Nets trade Lopez to get off his hefty contract? Hes a little injury prone, but if he ever maintain his averages.

Lopez is also underrated at defense. He isn't the greatest rim protector, but he can certainly block shots. Averaging 1.7 for his career in BPG isn't something to scoff at. Hes also improving on PnR defense, and learning how to use his length to make up for mistakes.

I think with Rondo and Lopez, that is a dual threat, because Lopez can set good screens, but is also a good finisher and once he has that soft lay in shot that he does, I don't see anyone stopping him.

What would it take for us to get Brook Lopez?

What will it take?  Probably KO and picks...for starters

If it'll take picks, I don't mind throwing a few.

Lopez is very underrated. The only problem is his growing foot pains. I don't know if it'll be consistent, or recurring. But a guy who averages 18/7.3 and 1.7 BPG who could possibly be traded for cap relief, picks, and young prospects to help jump start the rebuild for the Nets, seems like exactly what we got.

Not particularly. Injury prone.

I'll take him if they want Pressy and Bass ;)

Hmmm... So if they just wanted 2 picks, Bogans/Bass/cap filler, would you do it?

I would try to trade for Lopez. The Nets are clearly on the path of rebuilding, or re-tooling. A struggling and injured Lopez can't be a positive thought heading into the season.

I wouldn't say Lopez has a "hefty contract" (15 and 16M for the next 2 years) considering he's one of the better offensive centers in the league, at least not one hefty enough that the Nets are going to want to unload simply to get out of it (this is the Nets we're talking about). Plus they're counting on him to make up for the players they let go to to get back to the playoffs. Now Williams and Johnson have hefty contracts they would be happy to unload for cheap. But Lopez is by far their best asset and they wouldn't give him up for a couple middling picks and one year of cap relief.

Plus, I don't think the Cs would want to gamble their rebuild on his injuries. I don't think this works for either side.

Maybe. But Boston's been bitten bad by the injury bug over the last half dozen years, and I don't want to invite more of that.

Yeah if they gave up Lopez for Bass, Wallace, the Clips 2015 and our 2016 1st I would consider it, but it would have to be a ridiculous underpay like that.  We don't have the foundation in place to compete and we'd need our assets to build around Rondo and Lopez right away.  Even then, he is such an injury prone dude that we could trade all our picks for 2 all-stars to go along with them, then he could tear and ACL the next day and we'd be up the creek.

I would even do something huge with Brooklyn like

DWill, Kirilenko and Brook Lopez for
Rondo, Green, Bass, Sullinger and Joel Anthony.

Yes, but only in a steal of a trade, or in free agency after he proves he is back to 100%.
