My worry is we are waiting to pounce on another KG situation but those A level free agents won't be available. Aldridge will stay put. Gasol will go to Knicks. Durant to DC or OKC.
A lot of B+ guys are all hitting 29 or 30 now, so in a year or two it won't be worth giving up a ton of assets for them. Millsap, Jefferson, Bosh, etc...
The top young players will be unavailable Wall, Cousins, Kahwi, George, Irving, etc...
The young B guys that we can hope to trade for in the next year might be DeRozan, Monroe, Jordan, Galinari, maybe Parsons or Hayward's bloated contracts in 1.5 to 2 years, Stephenson in 2 years.
So I think maybe add a B player like Monroe now, or add one next year. Keep building through the draft. Maybe one of those A guys will be available by trade in 2 years. Maybe Danny doesn't want Monroe because he doesn't want to win too much this year. Maybe the plan is win 30-35 games, draft a center, convince Green and Rondo to return, then try to trade for a B list guy in 2 years.
