Too early to say if Smart and Young are home run picks or busts . . .or something in between. Thinking they'll be pretty good. Look what people thought of Avery when he was a rook - -- though he was awful. He isn't.

Celts are set up better than any rebuilding team in the league (except for Philly IF they get Embiid and Noel to heal up and blossom). We've got more picks than any team in the next 5 years. We've got solid young players, not stars, but young guys that are useful. It's not like we have awful scrubs from the scrap heap. We've got guys developing with upside.

I'm all in. We've been in FAR worse situations before. This millennium and in the 90's.

I know with this post I will be called a variety of names or will be asked why is this a new topic.  I guess this is just a Celtics fan kind of wondering what we're doing and where we are heading. 28 years of being a fan and I never been so down on this team.  Yeah sure we can go back to the late 80's and early 90's and say if it wasn't for a bad back for Bird, a death to Len Bias and Reggie Lewis we may have won another 2 or 3 championships. During and after that the Pitino Era we took a huge dstep backwards, made dumb trades and signed old free agents. At least in the early part of the 90s we were still relevant and had a chance to make noise. Then the new big 3 came along.  Brought us a title and some memorable moments, we should of won atleast one more title but it is what it is. We now are starting over with no real superstar, no Rondo isn't, and it seems no one is going to come here. We drafted a player who seems to be over rated and quite frankly didn't impress me in the summer league, and Young who mysteriously was hurt and couldn't lace up for one game. Most of our current roster is crap, which I don't get why so many people are happy with it. Zeller? Please!!! Olynyk? Please!! Pressey? HAHA! and Bradley?? What was Danny thinking? He could of offered much less to see if anyone matched it before giving the guy 8 million! Rondo, not sure why everyone is in love with him, maybe because he's the last one from the 08 title?

So the point to my post, which I don't even know I have one. Does anyone know or have heard rumors? I am sick of if someone sees a picture of a player in Boston that they must be coming here (Love) or when a player says they love Rondo or think he's the best PG in the NBA then they are coming here too (Cousins, J. Smith). We have players under contract who are not even close to their worth, and no one who wants to come here.  A lineup of:

Rondo
Bradley
Green
Sully
Zeller

is not a good team, nor a playoff team. The team sucks, hate the moves, mad I don't know the direction we are heading and upset Danny hasn't made any noise or brought in anyone to give us hope.  I feel better now, thoughts?

What are you talking about?  If you been a fan for 28 years you should remember how awful it was when we had players like Shermen Douglas, Greg Minor, Dee Brown, Rick Fox, Eric Williams, Raef Lefrence, Jiri Welsh and Vitaly Potepinko.  Our great draft picks/rookies Eric Montross, Acie Earl, and Jerome Moise. Our free agent signings Old Dominique, Old Kenny Anderson, and the Dana Baros.

Give me a break....I watched the C's for years when their best player was Dino Radja.  If your more upset than before than I assure you you have been truly invested in the C's because they had ZERO hope in the past..ZERO.

What you sound like is a new generation New England Pink hat sports fans who thinks championship teams grow on trees.  Is it fair to say you are actually 28 years old instead of actually being a fan for 28 years?

Oh boy.

Why can't we get involved in the Minny, Cleve trade talks? These are the things I am frustrated with!

You're funny DraftSmart33, I am pushing 40 btw, thank you. I remember Dino, but that was after Reggie and the franchise took a hit.  You don't need to insult my intelligence. I been a fan like I said for 28 yrs, living in NYS. Going to the old Boston Garden, listening to the organ play during the game sitting behind obstructed views. Johnny Most on the call. Attending Bird's retirement ceremony, McHale retirement ceremony. Reggie's ceremony, a dozen or so games growing up at the old garden and a handful in the new one.  I'm a passionate fan just like anyone else in here. Last I checked we route for the same team, not sure why you need to be against me. Back in those Dino, Sherman, Montross days I wasn't expecting championships nor at that time basketball was the first thing on my mind.  All I am saying, venting is why are teams making moves but us. Why is the plan, why do we have so many guards and pf? I don't want to wait 22 years again to win a title, and I am sure no one else does. Why can't we go after players like, Melo, LeBron, Durant, Howard, not that I want some of them but as examples.

IMO we have so many pf and guards because we are going to make a trade. it is very possible that we trade Rondo. It is also very possible that we keep him. But with Marcus Smart on the team I do see a trade for Rondo happening...IMO.

This coming draft we should be picking 1-6 (I hope). And there are legit big men. Karl Towns is my fav right now. He can play pf and center. He can shoot from 3 but more likely will be shooting from where KG did.

I get very in to the rebuild process. Try to make a game out of it....thats a tip from me to you

Not enough compelling assets. We did clean Cleveland out a bit in their efforts to free up space for LeBron, though.

I totally understand what you are saying. People are delusional here. They are not understand  that they were lucky to see the Big 3 of Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. 3 hall of famers, who are just over their prime managed to win the championship, and be a top dog in the league for a 5 year period. It's once in a lifetime thing.

My favourite player was/is Ray Allen and the Big 3 formed I said myself: they will win it all. and they won. The early 2000's seasons i rooted for the mavs and when they beat spurs and reached the finals I felt there is no way they lose to Miami. We know what happened. Refs made Wade a hero... Next year they lost to warriors, I thought the mavs window closed. Happily the Boston Big 3 was formed so I felt Ray Allen can get his ring. We know what happened. And when the Boston Big 3 window closed Nowitzki and the Mavs returned and beat the heavy favourites Miami Heat. Next Year Ray Allen made the game 6 shot and get his second.
All I want to say that I'm happy to be able to see such great teams as the 2007-2012 celtics (and those mavs teams that I wrote about). And I don't think people are aware of that the kind of greatness we saw from those celtics team will not come in the close future. I easily see a 20 year title drought in the celtics case.

So the fanbase wrongfully believed this was 2007 all over again.  We got ourselves a team full of assets... clearly that means we're going to flip them all for superstars.   Wrong.  This is 2003.  This is day 1 all over again.  We blew it up and we're building with mediocre assets.  It's going to take a few years to even acquire the pieces that can be flipped for stars.   We might get lucky Summer 2015... but folks who thought this was going to be an easy/quick turnaround were off-base.   We need to accept that barring another miracle set of moves by Ainge (in a few years), we could be looking at a team that might suck for 20 years.  This team probably will not crack 40 wins anytime soon.

TP.  The idea of trading our assets for Love and we'd somehow be a contender was always a pipe dream.  This team needs at least one more year with a high lotto pick before we can think about making a move back to relevancy.  We just don't have enough pieces yet.

Agreed.  We are still light years ahead of the Gaston Jr. era.  This team has great ownership and a great GM.  It may take a while, but we will be fine.

TP for calling out the refs in that first DAL / MIA series. Wade was awesome but got to the line WAY too much. What, like 30 times a game? Ha! Worst offense ever was game 6 SAC vs LAL. SAC should have a title.

We should be trading for LeBron and Love, duh.

If Broussard's sauces are correct, they are offering Wiggins + Bennett + a 1st...

Nobody is coming anywhere close to that... nobody is even in the same continent.  That's a ridiculous offer.

Okay so 10 years ago and 20 years ago we had terrible teams with 1 legit player and a bunch of guys who largely didn't pan out.  Now we have 1 legit player and about 3-6 that should pan out (KO, Bradley, Sullinger, Zeller, Smart & Young) and 9 first round draft picks in the next 4 years, plus a ton of cap space at the end of this season.  85% of the GMs in the league would kill to be in our situation right now, but people are whining that we can be a 6 seed and then flame out after 3 years.

I don't Broussard, but just offering Wiggins alone will trump all offers. However Wiggins is still with the Cavs right now so we'll see.
