What about a trade that sends Rondo and Jeff Green to the Pistons in exchange for Andre Drummond, Jonas Jerebko, Brandon Jennings and Will Bynum? The Pistons can re-sign Monroe and seriously compete in the East (on a side note: the Central Division would be a bloodbath). The Celtics get a potentially dominant player at center. The Clippers pick and/or the 76ers pick could also be thrown in if need be.
It would cost us much more than that to pry Drummond away, but even then I would do it. Rondo, Green, and two 1st rounders.
Thats a lot. But Drummond would look great in Green.
Everybody knows that Drummond is NOT going anywhere and the Detroit team has Nothing to offer us - in fact they aren't good trade partners, because
1. Detroit's strength is the Celtics strengths - a glut of PF's (or at least 2 good quality PFs - JSmoove and Monroe). I've heard on this board that Monroe could play C for the Celtics - stop right there - He shouldn't play C for the C's bc he's not a good defensive player - great offensively but challenged defensively.
What are the Celtics going to give up a bunch of back up PFs for either of their PF's???
2. Everyone knows that Drummond is NOT going anywhere. He's their cornerstone player - just like LeBron, Blake G, Kobe, etc....they are not going to give up Drummond unless you get someone of THAT caliber back-which I don't believe the C's currently have.
3. their guards Brandon Jennings especially is sooooooooo terrible, I don't want to even see him in a Celtics uniform. we'd HATE the day that we chose to deal Rondo to Detroit to get someone like Brandon back. He's so fragile that if someone like Mugsy Bogues bumps into him, he'd break
