Ed Davis is a 4 not a 5, he's too skinny to play center.

****!  Why would he sign for that little? I would pay him four times that. He needs to fire his agent.

And then as GM you would quickly be fired.

He seemed to be a decent player with Toronto but gign't play much in Memphis. I think the Lakers got a steal.

is there money under the table? like agent pays ed davis behind the scenes if he chooses LA, and the agent gets money under the table from LA to push that? so everyone wins.

it reminds me of AK47 signing in brooklyn for cheap.

Playing in LA for discounts got Meeks, Hill, Young, Farmer, Bazemore, and Kaman paid later on.  The Lakers exposure seems to do wonders for earning potential.

And why exactly would a GM be fired for giving Ed Davis 2yr $8mil?

He's definitely worth $4 million per year at least.

Wow so for $10 million we could have had Ed Davis and Lance Stephenson for short term deals.
He'd be a nice rotation multi PF/C that could build some great trade value playing with Rondo for a season. I wonder if he'll start ahead of Randle.
Who says we could have had Stephenson for that money? Charlotte actually made the playoffs last season. I doubt he accepts the same deal to come to Boston. Plus, there's the Jordan mystique.

Please stop with the lame excuses.  We've done nothing but sit by and watch and wave this off season.

Please stop with the lack of understanding of how the CBA works.

Stephenson wasn't coming here, and we didn't have the means to do so.

I don't think acquiring a future 1st rounder, a young useful center, and an expiring contract with off the bench scoring is characterized by sit by and watch and wave this off season.

With the way the market has played out this offseason, 4 mil per year would STILL be a bargain.

Important points emphasized.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

The "grass is greener on the other side" mentality is strong here...

Sullinger's floor is Davis' ceiling... An overweight Sullinger coming off of major back surgery and playing out of position outproduced Davis in his best seasons, but the C's should take minutes away from him and Olynyk?

Davis was the centerpiece to the Rudy Gay trade, but he couldn't earn minutes on a thin Grizzlies front court [Red Flag]. Jon Leuer, as a rookie, leapfrogged him on the Grizzlies depth chart [Red Flag]. The offer he signed says he's either damaged goods, he really wanted to go to the Lakers, or both.

Unless a player is better and has more potential than the players on the roster, they shouldn't even be considered; give the minutes to Sullinger and Olynyk (as the starting/backup 4s), Zeller and Faverani (as the starting/backup 5s), Smart (as a backup 1-2), Young (as a backup 2-3), etc. for their continued development.

I sometimes wonder if some people have actually seen Ed Davis play or if they just read his stats and the F/C designation on some websites. He is by no means a center , he's a 6'9 skinny PF. We have enough PFs on the roster as is, and all of them are better than Ed Davis.

Maybe he's not officially a Center but he is a rim protector. We do need a center to guard other teams 5's but more importantly we need a player at any position who will block/effect shots at the rim. His athleticism is what we are missing out of bigs.

Still can't believe he is playing for only $1 MM a year.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Agreed on this one. I wonder if playing time was a bigger issue for him than money.

If he was only getting BAE or room exception offers maybe his agent hunted for the most playing time possible instead.
