I do have to say that DA has gotten a lot out of that KG and PP trade last summer. He may have not done anything big, yet, but he's really been active and have moved forward.

Good point. Add another TPE to the list of assets from the PP/KG trade.

Although I miss him too, Ainge did it for the future and that's understandable. Plus, with Zeller added and Anthony staying (Player option) Humphries wouldn't get much minutes plus we're prepping for a 2015 FA big name center/rim protector to come with the cap space we will have next year.

At the end of the day, it was the best move for both Hump and for the Celtics.

Boston already have three PF's on the roster in Sully, Bass and Olynyk.  Now they also have at least two centers (Zeller and Faverani) - three if they decide to give Iverson a shot.

That's 5-6 bigs already on this roster. 

Last season Hump was great, and he really was one of the top 3 or 4 players on this team.  I actually felt bad for him because as great as he was playing, he still got so few opportunities because the priority for this rebuilding team was to get minutes to their young guys.  I don't think it would have been very fair for Boston to bring Hump back knowing that they probably couldn't give him more than 10 MPG.  He's too good for that, and he deserves to go to a team that can offer him a bigger role - at least 20-25 minutes per night.  He wouldn't have that opportunity here this upcoming season...especially if Olynyk keeps up the play he showed at the end of last season. 

So as much as the Boston management probably would have absolutely loved to get Hump back, they also likely knew that letting him go was the right thing to do.  Plus you can only have so many roster spots.

Had way to many PF on the roster helped Hump get more money and we get a TPE out of it. Win win for everybody.

Come on lets call it what it is. If you are not playing your best players because you want to develop rookies, you are TANKING. There is a reason for the D League.

Jarred Sullinger averaged around 15 points and 10 rebounds per 36 minutes last season.

Kelly Olynyk's numbers weren't far off that either.

Both guys are around 22 years old, with a high probability of further development/improvement.

Last season I would say Hump was our best PF, but it's not a clear call - Sully and Olynyk (in the second half of the season) were right up there. 

There is every chance that this season, either Sully or Olynyk (or maybe even both) end up playing better than Hump.  Even Hump's bargain price of $4M is still as much as the cost of Sully and Olynyk COMBINED.

It's a no brainer really.

The only reason I would have considered keeping Hump is so we have a guy who can play center, but then we got Zeller.

what have we done so far this season to put a better team on the court next season? I say nothing. We have not improved this team at all.

Well maybe I am looking at it from the wrong viewpoint. We have made moves to make tanking easier. That is for sure.

C - Improved for having Zeller
PF - Losing Hump will hit us, but I trust Sully and KOs development
SF - No movements
SG - we got Young and Thornton
PG - we got Smart
