Highlights from a game in April vs BK

Wow, if he played like that every night, he will make the all star team!!

Really like his energy.  Seems to have quick feet for a guy his size.

Here is his 20 pt game against Boston as a rookie:

and here is his 23 point game against the Rockets this last March:

As to questions about his strength/bulk & rim protection:

While I don't know if Zeller will ever be much of a 'rim protector', I know that he came out of his rookie year knowing he needed to bulk up (sound familiar about any other bigs?) and he apparently worked hard last summer doing so.  However, last October, he got hit with appendicitis and had to undergo an  emergency appendectomy.   This caused him to lose weight.   I think it's probably related to the fact that he played better and better later in the year.

Hopefully, he still has body conditioning goals that he will continue to work on this summer.

He looks like he could be pretty comfortable carrying about 260 or so.

Overall, while he's still pretty young (24), with more development needed, I'd rate Zeller as fairly competent on most aspects of the game though not particularly stellar on any one thing.  His strengths seem to be his ability to get up & down the court, his face-up game and ability to finish.

NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Even though it's a highlight reel there's no denying his athleticism and agility. makes Iverson and Vitor look sub par and I would love to see KO develop like this considering his own attributes.

this kid could be really good for us and much better than most expected. did Danny do it again???

Maybe especially if he adds 10 more pounds of muscle. But we really need another center anyways. In case zeller only becomes good as a backup or gets injured. Still hoping celts get aldrich or withey. Got get rid of faverani imo.

Sullys bruising style will complement Zeller very well

you guys are a hoot why would anyone play this kid as a backup. Put him on the same program LeBron James is on -- get him some bulk --- and you have your Center of the future.

We are hardly the team to rate a C against.   Our interior D was abyssmal and we have no shot blockers.  Seraphim looks great against us too.

Sullinger and Olynyk = sieve on D

His success will largely depend on how much weight he is able to gain, but his upside is pretty good in an uptempo system with a pass first point guard.

Stevens not known for uptempo style offense, more of a half court guru.  Wonder if he will figure out a way to take advantage of Zeller's ability to run the floor.

Actually, Danny said he was a good fit for Stevens' system as a 5 that would run the floor to the front of the rim. Stevens echoed that in his quotes on the acquisition

Post injury his mind did not obey his body.   Young KG would have owned him.

Still, our D is about as tough as wet kleenex.  He can only help.

Zeller is better than people think.

He was a +4 on a very bad team.

I'm with you on this.. I really think that everything about this team (rim-attacking guards, mobile and jumpshooting big-men) are primed for an uptempo, fast-break based offense. I just wished we had more "shooting" guards than just thornton.

Defensively, it's set up for a full/half-court press team with those 3 ball-hound guards. Only hope that the bigmen are mobile enough to hawk on the ball when needed.

This plays to everyone's strengths, while covering up the weaknesses of the current roster
offense: guards can't shoot, bigmen that won't be averaging 12+ rebounds
defense: smaller guards, no rim protection from the bigs
