How much cap space do they have left?  Do they have a bunch of trade exceptions from dumping Asik/Lin?

Only way I could see it happening would be if it was Rondo + Wallace for a boatload of cap space, but even then it makes no sense, because all they seem to have as an asset is Terrence Jones... and he's only a slightly more valuable PF than Sully and Oly.

Maybe if it was a 3-teamer where Jones went to the Kings, McLemore, some bleh picks and tons of cap relief go to Boston,   Wallace and Rondo go to the Rockets.

But I'm saying that without actually looking into Houston's current cap situation.  I'm too lazy to look.  Pretty sure they can't even absorb Rondo + Wallace .
From what I can tell, they only have about 13 mil in cap space... so they'd be able to absorb Rondo's salary, but I can't see how they'd also take on Wallace.

Wait isn't? Montejunas in Toronto now? But all in all is take Harden for a Rondo & Bradley package. We don't need T. jones if we have Sully & Olynyk.

harden for Rondo+Bradley would work financially.  they have something like 13 mil in cap space.

They just lost their main trade piece in Parsons...

Parsons + Asik + HOU's 1st for Rondo would have been a very intriguing offer. They've lost all 3 pieces and replaced it with NO's 1st, which does have a strong a potential to be a lottery pick. The 1st definitely has value, but nothing else that they would want to part with, except for Jones (depending on your valuation of Jones to Sullinger-Olynyk (I wouldn't trade either straight up for Jones)).

Unless Ainge is blown away with a trade offer for Rondo, he's here to stay... Rondo's going to be this Celtics teams' version of Paul Pierce.

what do the Rockets have to offer for Rondo?  Anything???
Nothing for a trade but Rondo will be a free agent in 12 months time. Houston can clear enough salary to offer Rondo a max or near max contract then.

After this year's expiring contracts, so will we. And considering how Rondo's been talking about his home and daughter's school in Boston, I think he'd be fine with staying here.

As I mentioned on the home page, wondering if we could turn this into a blockbuster trade involving Harden for Rondo.   We'd have to give up some other assets, but would be very intriguing for us.  Houston has to at least consider it.  Rondo would increase the value of Howard and Ariza since he is such a phenomenal play maker.

Maybe the best deal the C's can get would be future picks..... and T jones .Cappella /Johnson if you want.

3/4 picks and T Jones....Id do that even if the picks are spread out or not in the near future. After another year of the lottery we draft our guy, the young guns get better, and we cash in our picks with Wallace for a stud.

Remember HOU has to be desperate.

We could also through in Bass or another pf

I wish we would trade Rondo for Harden and not sign Bradley.
Harden is the top ranked SG in the league in PER.

One of the worst defenders in the league and a guy who couldnt make a shot in the playoffs.

There's no way Houston gets Rondo since they don't have Asik or Parsons.

Rondo is here to stay. He's the Celtics' only star. We need to be patient. We have a done of draft picks waiting for us.

Houston should use their cap space to go after lance... and then trade Harden for Rondo.

Funny it seems Boston wanted Parsons in any deal, but now Parsons is gone... outside of Harden the Rockets really don't have anything to offer.

So here are some interesting views on this from the Houston fan site.....http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=250906&page=291

"hes definitely available but imo I just don't see us having enough assets to pry him away from that SOB danny ainge"

"With Celtics recent additions at PG i do believe he is available, but I don't know if the Celtics would welcome a trade with Houston. Maybe Morey can swing some deals...

Pelicans 1st (top 10 potentially--great value), 2 second rd picks, D-MO, Canaan, cash could get the deal done."

"Considering Rondo was my #1 priority over Melo, Bosh and even if it meant losing Parsons I'd be ecstatic if we can finally get him. As I mentioned on several different occasions I don't know why Morey didn't trade Parsons + stuff back when the original offer was there. Rondo truly fixes a lot of our issues and he will make us immediate contenders.

My dream off season was to Trade for Rondo, sign PJ Tucker and pickup serviceable 4 and 5 for cheap.

If we end up with Rondo, Ariza, sign Boozer for cheap and pick up the backup 5 we'll be ready to rock. "

"My observations:

1. Which Rondo are you going to get? After coming back from his injury, he was terrible last year. How much of that is long term damage and how much of that was Rajon just not wanting to play for a terrible team.

2. Danny Ainge is almost as stingy as Daryl Morey. Both men are very stubborn and will not give an inch. This makes a deal very hard to happen. Also, both tend to over value their own assets.

3. Does Rondo really make the Rockets that much better? I don't think that he is in the class of Anthony, Bosh or Love.

4. Consider this, if a deal for Rondo was a realistic option, why didn't the Rockets do it BEFORE Parsons' deal was rejected? The Rockets with Parsons and Rondo are far better than a team with just Rondo. "
