The Cavs expressed to Paul  that, after their discussions with the Timberwolves, doing a deal "would not be easy," according to one source.

That source also expressed that the Cavs were reluctant to include No. 1 overall draft pick Andrew Wiggins in any potential deal.

Flip really playing hard to get huh.

Well, if the Cavs don't include Wiggins, then I don't see how Tristan Thompson, Anthony Bennett and Dion Waiters is any better of a package than Sullinger, Olynyk, Bradley, etc.

Look... if Flip doesn't take Andrew Wiggins for Kevin Love, he's a Grade-A Moron well beyond a level we previously thought possible.

There's no way he passes up on the Cavs offer if Wiggins + filler is on the table.  If Bron goes to the Cavs, this is happening.  Nobody is beating Cleveland's offer.

Regardless... even without Wiggins, Cavs package of Bennett/Thompson/Waitors beats our offer.

well, wiggins is the main chip they have...without wiggins, who do you want from that team? and if Wiggins is supposed to be as good as they say, why trade him?

That's just it. According to this article mentioned above, Cleveland is hesitant to give up Wiggins.

Take out Wiggins, and Cleveland's offer is no better than Boston's, which works for us.

I call BS on the article.  Cavs might say Wiggins isn't on the table, because they don't yet have LeBron locked in and they don't want to risk losing Love after a year.   But if they have LeBron,  Love will commit to an extension and Wiggins is gone.  There's a reason why Wiggins hasn't signed his contract yet, folks.

And even if they didn't include him... Bennett/Thompson/Waiters beats our package.

Starting to think the best-case scenario is seeing LeBron/Wade/Bosh all stick in Miami.   Cavs no longer would be a viable option for Love... we got some extra assets out of them... and we might be able to work out a trade for Love and a sign-and-trade for Melo.

Riley to LeBron later today:  "... So uh... like.. umm... so... is it too late to get me hired as Coach of the Cavs?  Me, you, Kyrie, and Love... Come on buddy!  Showtime 3000!  Let's do this!!!"

That team is going to be RI-DIC-U-LOUS.    Whereas Wade + Bron always had the potential to be a clash of styles, a Big 3 of Kyrie/Love/LeBron has the potential to be insane.   Love beasting on the boards with his epic outlets to a streaking Kyrie and LeBron... LeBron taking it to hole while Kyrie and Love spread their floor with their elite shooting (two of the best in the entire league)... They'll probably need another defender other than varejao, but that team should put up 150 points per game and win 70+.

Kyrie is 22.  Love is 25.  Bron is 29.   Team should be dominant for the next 5 years... probably a contender for the next 10.  And then they just build around 32 year old Kyrie.

On the other hand, Kyrie and LeBron could struggle to mesh even worse than Bron and Wade and Love could wind up standing around like Bosh.

Mike
Doubt it.  Kyrie is one of the best shooters in the league... same with Love.   Their talents will match perfectly with LeBron.

Not if the idea is they stand around waiting for LeBron to do something.

I mean, they'll be great the way Miami was great but they won't be a super-team unless they play like a team and not LeBron and the Bronettes.

Mike

Kyrie is one of the best ball handlers in the league.

That team is going to be insanely good.  180 points per night... 115 wins a year.

article didn't actually say Wiggins was NOT on the table only that Cleveland was reluctant to give him up (not that they wouldn't).  If they are giving up Wiggins then they aren't going to take back crap contracts from Minnesota though, which is where that all gets interesting.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

they have 40 mil in cap space... They can sign Bron and still have enough money to absorb Love's contract... if they include waiters/bennett/thompson along with Wiggins they could easily take back Love + Kevin Martin.

PG - Kyrie
SG - Kevin Martin
SF - King James
PF - Kevin Love
C - Varejao

I think a one or two year max would be Riley's best bet at retaining LBJ.  Wade's declining, but Duncan/Manu are much older and in line to drop off pretty soon here.  Even Parker's no spring chicken.  No one else has proven to be in Miami's class.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

No they don't. They had to trade Jack to open up 24 million to be in a position to acquire LeBron.

Pat Riley," I 'll move the team where fans won't abandon you."

LeBron, " That would be nice but I'm out, Pat.  In CLE, they'll worship me even I abandoned them.  Wiggins will be my Pippen.   MUHAHAHAHAHAHA."

No they don't. They had to trade Jack to open up 24 million to be in a position to acquire LeBron.

They have just enough money after the trade to give Lebron his max (about 21 mil). Love will have to come from a trade, but very easy to get if they trade a combo of Wiggins, Bennet, Thompson (makes sense from a basketball perspective and works money wise)
