I like how the team is filling up with shooting big men who can stretch the floor.. His first year he was only able to pop off midrange shots but couldnt play inside very well.. Last year he got better, bulked up a little and still possesses the ability to run the floor, hit 20 footers, and has a nice hook shot. Still is a liability of defense but with great natural size and maybe more girth he can start right away at the 5.

Also to mention Clevland had a logjam at center Varejo and Bynum then Bynum left and Hawees came in as well as Sims..

"great natural size"....let's take a look.

first, i never thought he possessed "unnatural size".  ;)

next, zeller's standing reach is 8' 8.5".
- the average standing reach for an nba center is 9' 1.3". (4.8 inches higher)
- sully is 8' 9.5"
- olly is 9'
- bass is 8' 10.5"

finally, the average wingspan for an nba center is 7' 2.6". zeller's cute little t-rex arms only make it to 7'.

i think seller is a good pick up since the price was really only his salary. but i am concerned about his ability to rebound under the basket with that reach. i just don't see an advantage in terms of his "size" here.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

He probably wont rebound much more than Fav did, and they are similar type of players.  Maybe Danny is veering towards more athletic offensively minded centers

So only guys with long arms can be good rebounders?

Watching tape on him, I wish KG would retire so we could hire him as a big man coach to teach Zeller the footwork involved in blitzing the screen and role game and popping out for jumpers.

Moses Malone and Dave Cowens, two of the best rebounding centers, had "short" arms. LOL

This guy is a sweet pick up. Maybe CLE will want James' pal Joel Anthony back? Clear room for Iverson.

Who are those nobodies? Everyone knows you can't succeed without wingspan.

Zeller showed remarkable improvement in his sophomore season. His win shares more than doubled to a solidly above average mark. His defensive and offensive ratings improved. His rebounding percentage improved. His per game and per 36 minute numbers improved.

He's not much of a passer, but the upside of that is he rarely turns the ball over. His defense still needs to improve; he actually records a solid number of blocks for his playing time, but he still fouls too much (not unexpected for a young player). His help defense and rotations are generally solid, he just needs better timing and instincts, which only come with playing time. His true shooting percentage is fantastic, and he averaged an insane 1.38 points per shot last season, and even got to the foul line at an above average rate with respect to his minutes played.

Will he ever be a star? Probably not. But he is improving rapidly and I think his ceiling might be higher than some expect. He is already qualified to be a starter, in my opinion (especially for a team like Boston). To be honest, I think he's the perfect Center for us at the moment; he has upside, and while he isn't going to take over games he is going to consistently give us efficient production from his position. I'm really happy with this pick-up (and this coming from someone that was down on Zeller his freshman year. I think his improvement in his sophomore season, especially given the general Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.-show that was Cleveland, was remarkable).

White Hakeem!  I traded him to fitzhickey last year for a draft pick in our points keeper league.   By the end of next season, fitz will probably get a Top 5 pick for him.

Zeller is a significant upgrade over Faverani. I'm a Carolina fan so I watched all of his games in college, he has very quick feet for someone his size and can get up and down the floor like a guard. He's intelligent on and off the court and is effective at drawing charges.
