Yeah let's add another undersized guard to the roster ::). Forget centers.

since we are not in a win now mode

letting go of bass gives us a chance to sign a free agent bigman
or having thorton and trying some rookie guys
tavares, klimenko, etc etc;

Wait until we get Love then we'll be in Win Now mode  :)

I must've missed the memo that went out about how we are not trying to win now.

so are you guys saying that with kevin love we are a contenders? haha no way love alone makes us a contender, if pp and kg was here, i'd say yes (veteran guidance) i could even see bucks making it if they guide those players very well, look at hawks with no star players, almost beat the pacers

  • Ainge *still* has a Posse! Ubuntu Y'all
question: can cleveland add tyler zeller to brooklyn?

and maybe we can send bass as floor spacer for lebron in cleveland?

or are they trading andy?

MISSERY, BKYN wants Jack and will ship out Thornton for him but CLE doesn't want to take any salary back b/c they're trying to clear as much salary cap space for Lebron without giving up Varejao (who's a Lebron fav).

If it's a done deal that James is heading back to CLE, I could see Ainge doing this -- a la the Rasheed-to-DET trade -- but only if we also got back at least (a) a first rounder and (b) Waiters (for Bogans). If Ainge knows Love is going to CLE (for Wiggins) I doubt he sits on the TPE.

(FWIW, I think we're out of the running for Love. I think (a) MIN is nervous about a KG redux and (b) values Mirotic (CHI), Parsons (HOU) and Klay Thompson much more than the picks we have -- which I don't think is unwise on their part).

If nothing else, Thornton would be an expiring contract (who along with Bass would total ~$15M). It would make for a really lopsided roster, but i don't know that it's the worst idea.

Could Ainge flip those contracts and a first for Pekovic, Sanders, Hibbert, or even Brook Lopez down the line?

------------

EDIT: Sounds like MIN, DAL and PHO are interested in Thornton --- i don't think there's any chance BOS gets involved.

lopez and pekovic might not get traded,
but if cleveland sends jack to nets, can they add a player insurance big like zeller?
cleveland will need to find another big though

and thorton to phoenix or dallas maybe

as much as i want to see kg and pp win a ring for one more, if big 3 heat disbands melo goes west, hibbert traded, bulls amniested boozer and got nothing for bench and wizards loosing  ariza, i could see nets to ECF, adding insurance big if lopez or kg goes down again, since blatche collisn evans are all gone

Pretty sure what they mean is they want someone to absorb Thornton's salary...

So...

Jack to Brooklyn
Thornton to Boston
TPE to Cleveland

Only problem is, Boston probably doesn't do this, because it would sabotage their Kevin Love dreams.   The second Bron signs with the Cavs, the Cavs just need to call up the Wolves and say "Wiggins + Filler for Love" and the Wolves jump all over it.  Love has already said he'd re-sign in Cleveland if LeBron was there.

I'd love it if we used the TPE to absorb Thornton and pick up a first rounder or 2.  Cleveland really wants LeBron back and we could take advantage of their desperation just like we did with the Nets last year.  Forget about Love, it's pretty clear that the Wolves want an established young guy that we don't have.  I think the writing's on the wall; Love is going elsewhere, Rondo's getting traded, and we're going very young.  Might as well pick up some assets with the TPE before it expires.

Nets want to dump him to make room for Jack. Last year of his contract and we can problally get a future first from Cleveland as a sweetner. I know more Small  ball talk but I like thorton and we could always deal him at the deadline for more pieces.
Volume shooter who is inefficient in limited minutes, and is on a contract way too generous for his skills. Why exactly do we need him again?

Very torn on the Thornton thing. If there is a big sweetener than I guess so  . .. . but otherwise, forget it. He's the last guy we need right now.

they dont need him. but they may want the first round draft picks stapled to him.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
