If Melo wants to play with Rondo bad enough. I think we should help out the Lakers by taking advantage of their desperation

Boston trades Rajon Rondo

LA trades : Steve Nash, Julius Randle, a future #1 pick.

A team of Rondo Kobe and Melo and Pau is a treadmill squad in the West. Maybe get to the WCF for one year but the Celtics would get a potential franchise 4 in Randle out of the deal.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
If Danny wanted Randle that badly, he would've drafted him.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

No way..plus Lakers 1st round pick would be in the late 20's with that team
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

I don't know about that. Kobe will be already 36 next month. I would do the trade for a 1st rd pick in 2017 and 2019. Melo is already 30 and Rondo is nearing 30, so those could be some really good picks.

I'd love for LA to have Melo

Guarennted fuss between Melo and Kobe .....10 games into the season they would be at odds

So yeah give me Lakers with Melo ....no banners during that time.
.

I personally like Melo better as a person .  ...he d get tired of Kobe being a horses rear

Kobe has saddled LA with a no win situation , they should be rebuilding , and instead paying out the rear for services of. Shadow of the once great Kobe . But as Celtic fan....that's all good

Young stars know going to LA with Kobe there is a waste of time

Don't think Rondo is a good fit with both Melo and Kobe. Need someone who's a bit better off the ball, I think.

Any sentence that starts with"help the Lakers" should never be on this board. And in any case, Randle was available and DA passed on him. You're giving up Rondon without Wallace and only getting in return Randle and a very low future first. Randle might turn out to be a beast, but as of now, he's not and I'm starting to think you're a lakers fan

"Help the Lakers"...hmmmm let's see----Too many teams have "Helped The Lakers" over the years--just to watch them laugh their way to a ring--teams should now BURY the Lakers---we finally have those jerks where we want them....No reason to let them catch us in Championships.

So we're essentially trading Rondo for a rookie power forward, when we already have two younger power forwards we just drafted in the last 2 years???

Time for me to take a vacation.

Maybe they drafted Smart to prevent the Lakers from taking him... thus ensuring that there was still a market open for a former all-star PG.

Yep. And yet people don't want to trade KO or Sully because they are the next superstars for Love, but people want to take on a unproven rookie PF that doesn't play D, same issue people point out about Love, and eventually have to move KO or Sully for Randle.

I might join ya on that vacation...:D

Rondo is a role player. Players like him are what you use to take advantage of organizations such as the Lakers. Julius Randle is younger, more athletic, and cost controlled. Rondo is a 2nd tier point guard who is going to be 30 shortly. That's not a good mix for a team that should have blown it up last year but failed to do so. Kevin Love wisely used Ainge's misguided desperation during his trip to Boston. There is no chance that he would willingly go to a 2nd-3rd tier market such as Boston. The weather is terrible and there isn't much marketing potential. Everyone needs to get on the right path and not cling to misguided hope of being a treadmill team. Next years draft has a deep crop of centers and we could have a shot at Okafor. This helps to speed up the rebuilding a bit since Randle is light years better than Sully or Olynyk.

I have no interest in Randle when we have 2 young PFs already. I do however see the Fakers as a possible destination for Rondo (not sure I want to trade him).

I would say:
Rondo, Wallace

for

Nash, Hill, the SG (what's his name? the one Danny likes), and a #1

You'll need to back up this statement with some specifics. I agree that Randle is a beast in the post (at the college level, at least), but he is not a better passer or outside shooter than Olynyk, and I'm not sure that he's a better rebounder than Sully.
