I don't know if it's been posted here before but I just thought i'd share this with everyone. Some fantastic stuff from DX, which covers current NBA players in the current state of their careers. It might help provide more guidance in the usual debates of trades, S&Ts, and just how good/bad a player is, that run rampant in these forums. Enjoy!

I don't think any of these players are realistic FA targets for the Celtics.

So who are realistic free agent targets then?

Bench rotation players. Smaller fish. Guys who can be had with the MLE.

well, IT was apparently the first guy we called, and Hayward and the C's had "mutual interest". I think it's fair to say these are potential targets. Whether it comes to fruition or not is another story.

But Greg Monroe, i just included since there were rumblings on here about trading Rondo for him in some sort of 3-way deal with Sacto and Detroit.

If any of these guys are acquired, I think it's through the TPE. Although I think it's likely that all but Thomas will sign for more than the TPE could bring back.

or S&T. I mean, there have been rumors (that didn't originate from this forum) about a Rondo-Parsons deal and a Rondo-to-Sacramento deal.

Admittedly these are the higher profile FA's (because really, who wants to watch a video about the Lakers' Ryan Kelly or Atlanta's Shelvin Mack?) but if the C's make a "big" move this offseason, we could end up with one of these guys.

I'm interested: Do people think Novak to the Jazz has any bearing on Hayward

No. Novak is third string backup PF/SF. Hayward is starting SF/SG.

Hayward and Parsons are unlikely. Monroe is a small possibility which would involve a pretty big trade (potential three team trade) but its highly unlikely. Now, Isiah Thomas is a strong possibility, as the celtics want a scorer and Thomas has shown interest. I think if the Celtics don't get Bazemore they will get Thomas or at least make a run for him.

I don't understand why Thomas would sign with the Celtics when they already have Rondo, Smart, and Bradley.

I think any interest on the part of the Celtics was misdirection.

Edit: Or, gathering info in case they feel they do want to move Smart (or perhaps Rondo) in a major deal.

I imagine that Isaiah Thomas was a backup plan for Avery Bradley. If Avery left in FA. Rondo and Smart to start with Thomas as backup guard. An offensive minded bench guard who's shooting and scoring would complement the other two nicely.
