Yet another impressive appearance in the summer league for Kelly Olynyk.  He showed off a toned up and more athletic body and the results showed on the court.  20 points 8 rebounds and 4 steals.

I think it is becoming gradually obvious who the best PF on the Celtics roster is right now.  I would not be surprised if KO is not at MINIMUM a 15-7 player this season as long as he gets at least 25-30 minutes per game.  He can make shots from all ranges and his 7' size is always an advantage.

I think Olynyk could easily become a #2 option in an offense if he continues on this upward trend.

We're still lacking that #1 scoring option, but at least we have a couple of more pieces in Smart and Young, and KO should emerge for a breakout season in 2014.  Calling it right now!

Do I still want Love?  Yes.  Can we ship off some combination of Sully, Jeff Green, and 1st round picks for him?

I've been saying I wouldn't be willing to give up KO since the Love trade talks started and people reacted like I was crazy. Maybe they will start to change their minds about giving him up so easily.

... You wouldn't give up Oly in a Kevin Love trade?  Really?

I think he could become a #1 option pretty easily, especially as a stretch center working off the dribble, and working the pick and roll with Smart.

Anything that happened today in "summer-league", while be it nice, is still "summer-league".  I like KO and am rooting for him as well, but cmon, it would take a big leap forward for him to become a #1 option this season.  I am just hoping for some improved rebounding and better d to go along with his nifty ability to score.

It's summer league.  In Oly's defense, his shooting was unreal over the final 2 months of the season.  He shot like 53%/44%/82% ... and the final 3 games of the season (nonsense tank season), he scored at least 24 points.

Post All-star stats (26 games):   11.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists in 22.5 minutes... 51%/43%/82%

9 Games as a starter:  13.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 28 minutes 49%/35%/91%

If he found his way into a starting lineup getting 35+ minutes per game, I could see him getting 13-15 a night.

No need to defend KO from me, I am a big fan.  I just think people would be better off being happy with incremental improvement as opposed to some big leap as a go-to main guy.  I don't see KO ever becoming the alpha dog, hopefully I am wrong.

He seems like he can be a great stretch 4 with a lot of moves on offense and a great smart player who makes the team better.  Then again he showed that last year too...If he can improve his rebounding and d year by year we have a winner.

Shame he'll be included with Smart, Young, Green and a boatload of picks in the Kevin Love trade.  ;)   Jk.  We aren't getting Love.

It's not that I wouldn't be willing to give him up in a Kevin Love trade it's that I doubt Minnesota gives him the value he deserves which may be one of the reasons a deal hasn't been made. Seems like they expect a bunch of our most valuable picks, Oly and they probably also wanted our 6th and or 17th this year. I don't think Love can be the first option on a championship team so he's not worth overpaying for while losing Olynyk.  I believe the Celtics and other teams realize they have the power in this situation because Love is gone weather he is traded or not. So they aren't going to overpay when if he truly wants to play for them they can get him in free agency (he's further confirmed this theory by being selective with the teams he's willing to resign with)

You are really over doing it with what we will have to give up for Kevin Love.  you have us giving away the whole team!!! a couple players and a few draft picks and the deal is done!!!

I said in a prior post that I believe the deal has already been done and we're just waiting on the announcement to be made.

while i hope you are right, i have doubts olly can put up 15 and 7 next season. let's have some context to help us here.

most seasons between 400 to 500 players are in the nba over the course of a season.

last year, a total of 14 players averaged at least 15 points and 7 rebounds. 14. that represents about 3% to 4% of the total number of players. not a lot.

will olly be so good as to rank among the top 4% of all players of the nba in scoring and rebounds? we can hope, but i wouldn't put money on it.

This should be an easy choice, but the one thing KO has that Love lacks is height.  I guess it depends in the context of the trade.  Lets put it this way; it would be a lot easier for me to include Sully rather than KO in a trade for Love.

...but ask me again in February  ;D

Yes we should hype up KO but not to trade him but to keep him!  He is on a nice trajectory now. I used to prefer Sully over KO but I'm starting to change my mind. I like Sully but he had a huge opportunity last year and put up good numbers. Give KO that same kind of playing time and he will respond.
