what one year rental is out there at center?
and, more importantly, to what end? a one year rental at center gets the celtics what? none of those centers will move the celtics from stinky to good. heck, none would move them from stinky to mediocre.

any such center might allow the celtics to win a handful more games, maybe. and what good does that do the franchise? a few wins, such as having 33 wins instead of 28 wins, is about the best one could hopeful in terms of change from such a center.

all such a shift would do is harm the rebuild by giving the celtics poorer odds in the lottery next year. regardless of such a signing, the celtics will stink this season in terms of w/l.

as a number of us have written, the celtics rebuild is at least a 3-5 year process. the first two years, last and this one, will feature a bad, bad team with hopefully good, good young talent that is learning and growing.

it is better to think of the rebuild in terms of 3 years away or so, and to make plans accordingly. anything that adds a few wins his season actually may harm the slow rebuild process.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

If we do get someone I want it to be a building block young guy not just a 1 year rental to screw up Tankapalooza II.

Turning the TPE into a one-year rental allows you to swap that player for a tangible asset (a draft pick) come trade deadline, is my only reasoning.

I would almost be more surprised if we use the thing before it expires. I've sorta lost hope on this offseason.
Long-form is far from dead, but please refrain from paragraph-laden posts! Who wants to read that?!

I don't think there is anyway to project its use at the moment.  It seems as though Queen James and Melo have the entire league in a holding pattern.  My guess is that after Melo resigns with the Knicks this weekend, Lebron will have to make a decision.  I heard on the radio that he has a basketball camp in Vegas this coming week and if he hasn't made up his mind by then the entire camp will be in chaos because of the media.

Off topic but what I hope happens..

Melo and Gasol to Knicks
James back to Cleveland
Bosh to the Rockets
Miami fans once again completely forget the Heat exist (they barely pay attention now)
I'd like
James to Cleveland
Melo to Houston
Bosh to Chicago
Wade stays Miami

I'd take Robin Lopez in a minute I like him better than his brother, he's quicker and more athletic. I was always a Perk fan but at this point he doesn't bring anything to the position that I'm looking for, rather have Hill.

I would love Robin Lopez too but I doubt Portland would want to trade him. He's the starting center for the Trail Blazers too. I would say get Okafor and Hill at FA and do a S&T for a PF or SG.

If Cleveland needed to make room for Lebron, and wanted to dump Varejao, I'd take him in a sign and trade.  I think that would be the wisest move for the exception.

Gives you a darn good player who comes off the books after 15' .  Plenty of options if you could add Varejao.
