I picked Chicago, but I would say it's 50/50 them or NY. I don't think the Fakers have a chance. No team, Kobe is old coming off injury filled season and no coach, I think they Fakers are &$#@&$ HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
How does he get to Chicago with Boozer amnestied?
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

With Nikola Mirotic seemingly going to the Bulls, it may just be that they're out of the running unless they can manufacture a S&T, which seems HIGHLY unlikely. They were having a tough time getting the required cap space as it is.

I think this is a two team race currently between Houston and New York, with the Lakers with a very very outside shot. Reports have come that the Mavs are no longer players.

I can't see how he won't go to Houston.  Such a good opportunity.

You could basically have a star studded version of those old Magic Dwight teams with Melo at PF.

I'm not sure if they're offering the full max (or if they're capable of it), so that's a lot of money to leave on the table.

That said, he'd also be playing with two ball demanding players in Dwight and Harden, I'm sure that's something worth considering from his perspective.

But yeah, from a trying to win perspective, that's the right choice.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I think he'll pick Chicago. I think Houston looks like a really great move but I think Chicago is the safer bet. They'll have to play Lebron most likely, but the eastern conference overall is so much easier.
That team with Noah, Rose, Melo is a team that will be amazing defensively, I think Melo and Harden on the wings is going to give Dwight a lot of extra work on defense.
The main risk for Melo is that Rose never returns to even 75% of his former self and his salary will haunt Melo kind of like Amare's did in NYK.

Just much harder for Houston to make it out of the East considering the Spurs have a season or 2 left, the Clippers are on the rise, you have OKC and Portland then you've got Randle and Gasol at Memphis together for the next 3 years  after Randle's extension. Did I mention Phoenix becoming a nightmare playoff match up this season?

I'm not sure who plays next to Dwight or who plays point guard but they'll need some serious defensive help.

Just imagine Derrik Rose penetration and dishing to Melo, or Melo posting up and kicking to Rose who's making a hard cut, while McDermott sits on the other side of the court behind the 3 point line, and Noah boxes out as the 3 goes up.

That team is title favorite if Rose is 90% healthy for the next 3 years.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

The risk Rose represents I think is going to prove to just be too much for Melo to choose Chicago.  Plus, Chicago just can't offer as much money as NY, or even Houston (likely).  I think Melo would be foolish to risk the last years of his prime taking the gamble Rose will ever be what he once was.  Odds are against Rose regaining his form.

The Melo/Harden pairing carries it's own risks as well (defense), but Harden is certainly more movable than Rose is at this point.  I'm sure if Houston wanted to, they could get quite a return on Harden if they sought out a trade.  A Howard/Melo front court is just too good to pass up.

Kinda getting the feeling D-Rose is a bit of a prick.  He was pretty ho-hum about recruiting Bron 4 years ago... and now he's pretty ho-hum about recruiting Melo.  It's almost like the dude has no interest in sharing the spotlight with anyone.

Well, what has usually been reported is that he values his teammates highly and realizes that recruiting for these players means that some of his teammates would be cut, so he doesn't like to recruit from that perspective.

All speculation of course, but that's what I've gathered in general.

players recruiting when it leads to a teammate losing his job does kinda stink.

I'm pretty sure NY can offer more than any other team and they have the money to do it. I think he'll stick with the highest bidder and stay in NY. A lot of these guys say they want to go to a winner but most of the time they just want to get paid top dollar.

The Lakers will offer Carmelo Anthony a max deal of four years for $97 million.

I wouldn't exactly call being traded "losing your job".  You're still getting paid, just means someone else is signing your checks.

Every NBA player knows they can be traded at any time.
