Pretty Much Wallace and Bogans for Josh Smith and a pick. For Detroit Wallace's deal expires a year before Smith, and he defends his position well. Bogans is instant cap relief. For Boston well Josh Smith might fit better here, where he would be our best low post scorer and so on.

Detroit might very well be highly motivated to move Smith, but they are going to straight up 'salary dump' him. As bad a fit as Smith was in Detroit last year, he is still talented and has some value around the league.

If there were a pick involved, it would be going to Detroit.  They'd robably ask for Olynyk or Sullinger, as well.

I would do Wallace, Bogans, Sully and a pick for Josh Smith.  If we are going to have an albatross contract on the books, I would rather have Smiths.  At least Smith produces...Wallace is totally useless.  Plus, having Smith may give Rondo a reason to re-sign here.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

Wouldn't they really want Green in the trade and resign Monroe?

Smith, on a good contract, would be an albatross.....great talent, poor decisions constantly

Nah id be pretty reluctant letting Sully go for Smith.. Its either they get Wallace Bogans and a pick or they also get sully but throw a first back our way..

Josh Smith is an OK power forward and an awful 3 man.  Of course with all his talents he will only play the 3 spot and shoot jump shots well out of his range.

He's just a bad player and I'm baffled that people continue to revisit trading for him.

We are in a rebuild and Josh Smith will never be a piece on a championship team.

Waiting for the next thread "Lets get Josh Smith and Lance Stephenson"

I've never been able to understand the fascination here with Josh Smith.  One of the NBA players I would LEAST like to see on the Celts.

Wallace, Bogans and James Young for Smith and Bynum is a trade I'd do.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Before I clicked on this I knew it was a Wallace/Josh Smith swap.

But you are ok with paying a boatload of money to Wallace who does absolutely nothing??

Would you rather have a guy doing absolutely nothing on the bench or a guy who actively hurts his team leading the Celtics in minutes played?

I will take the guy who "actively hurts his team".  Considering that both Wallace and Smith can't hit a free throw and turn the ball over too much, then I would prefer the guy who averages 15+ pts, 7+rebs, 3+assts, and 1.5+blcks per game.

Stevens , Rondo and Ainge  could reign in Josh Smith.

Mike Woodson, Drew and Cheeks couldn't reign in anyone. In addition, Dumars tried to fit a square peg into a round hole by acquiring/expecting Smith to play the 3, and paid him way too much money to play him out of position. Pistons want out of that contract.

I agree that we could get Smith for Wallace Bogans. This save Pitons over $ 20 million over 3 years. In addition, they get a natural 3 in Wallace who can no longer play the 4.

Rondo and Smith (the Oak Hill boys) could be what we need to lure the third Oak Hill boy.

Rondo, Bradley, Melo, Josh Smith sounds like a pretty competitive nucleus to me.
