Wonder how this affects the Rondo speculation, etc...

They're not keepin' Thomas then.

I think it's being said that Detroit is really interested in Thomas.

Rondo discussion has moved to pheonix who wants him. They can't afford Bledsoe and rondo together.

They're just as unlikely to get him as before.  But most teams with aspirations of competitiveness would want a better point guard than Darren Collison.  He's a useful backup / 20 minutes a night guy.  I'm sure if Boston finally said yes to the Kings' offer, Collison wouldn't make them change their mind.

Seems fair with Sacramento planning on starting Darren Collison. Small upgrade over I.Thomas due to better defense but Collison has been a weak defender throughout most of his NBA career too so Kings haven't really solved that situation yet. Just marginal upgrade.

Has it even be said that PHX "wants" Rondo? I know Stein inserted his name in that tweet, but he's backpedaling on that.

Yeah, Collison and Thomas are too similar.

Yeah. And I wonder whether Thomas might have agreed to stay in Sacto for less than 3 years/$16 mil. Seemed like a good teammate there.

So, whither Thomas? Detroit?

I've never been a Collison fan either.

Thomas was reportedly offered $24 mill over 3 years by Detroit.  No way was he staying in Sacramento for less than Collison just got.

I didn't realize that. It's a firm offer by Detroit, then?

I'm betting Thomas is used in a S&T to bring back Josh Smith.

First bargain signing this offseason, in my opinion. Quality backup PG who can also slide over to SG at times, and also be a spot starter when needed. Quietly underrated behind CP3 in LA, he's a step up over Livingston who also received the MLE.

When Chris Paul went down this season Collison did a great job stepping in to the starting role. My friends and I argue who would be the one person that if hurt on the clippers would make them miss the playoffs. they are in the west so its harder I remind them. Anyways Chris Paul is always the answer they choose but when he did get hurt it did not hurt their record. Without Collison if CP was to get hurt, it would affect their record this year.....and we have the pick.
