Wolfson isn't exactly the most reliable source to me, I mean hes credible, but a lot of stuff on his twitter really seems like a lot of speculation.
As for trying to sign Humphries, I don't get it...
I mean per 36, Humpries is a constant walking double/double, and is actually a great guy on the court. But why Humphries? Do they seriously think the Celtics wouldn't match whatever offer they would throw? Or is this their under veiled way of saying they are sort of interested in dealing with the Celtics? The Celtics have their Bird Rights, and I'm pretty sure the Wolves know. They actually have been interested a year ago, but it wasn't as strong due to the fact the Nets weren't looking to trade the big men for nothing.
If the Wolves would like someone like Humphries alongside Sully/KO/Nets pick/Celtics pick, and possibly AB, I really wouldn't mind it.
I can see how they would also be interested in Humphries. He isn't as solid in the post as David Lee, but hes a great rebounder, works hard, hustle kind of guy, and is a better defender. This year there was a game where Humphries was at C, and was giving Cousins a lot of trouble. He definitely was headed towards foul trouble until Wallace got hit with a bogus call, and Brad Stevens got his first ejection in the NBA.
As a back up big off the bench, or even starting, you gotta take into account Humphries has been one of the most underrated/undervalued player before he came to the Nets; where he got his infamous overpaid contract. Back then, I would've at least placed Humphries in the 6-8 million category for bigs. He was pretty solid at PF, and could rotate pretty well on defense. He also has a mid range shot, and on the pick and roll with Rondo excelled.
Somehow, of all people, Reggie Evans started over Humphries, or got more minutes despite the fact he lacked almost every facet required in offense, and was only good at one thing: rebounding.
Oh yeah..
