Let me start by saying, no disrespect to Avery at all. He's blossomed into one of my favorite players, the way he plays hard every possession is a thing to admire. He shoots a career 36% 3 pointers, and shot 40% last year, which is really good, but why do I have no faith that he can be that guy in our backcourt who can knock down big shots on a consistent basis? Does anyone else feel this way? Let's face it- Rondo and Smart, while great players (I just know Smart will be something special), aren't the guys you want taking perimeter shots when it counts, and we really need someone like that in our backcourt. I think that's why the Celtics have been going hard after Isaiah Thomas. Ideally, I'd like to see Avery stick around and be that guy, because I love his attitude and demeanor, but I just can't see it happening for whatever reason. Tell me I'm just being a negative Ned.

I have faith in his shot but not in his ability to stay on the court. Also Im not overpaying for him if he's gonna be undersized each night and fights just to stay on the court.

I think a big part of it is that he just seems hunched over to me when he releases the ball in the air. I guess there are a lot of players who had odd jump shots who developed some consistency (Shawn Marion and Kevin Martin come to mind), so I hope this is something I'm wrong about.

This is true. Luckily the Celtics have an outstanding medical staff. They will be a huge factor in deciding how much AB is worth/if he's resigned at all. If they tell Danny he may have some lingering medical issues, he won't overpay.

Bradley is too small and too fragile to spend money on. I'd let him walk.

judging what Meeks got, are you comfortable with that money to Bradley? It's less than 7 mil a season

Because we were spoiled by Larry Bird and Ray Allen and are used to picture perfect shots.

Because our shooting coach sucks as evident by guys like Rondo and Bradley who have been inconsistent shooters their whole career. I wish we could hire the shooting coach the Spurs have.

I have faith in AB's shot.  I don't have faith in his driving, passing, ball-handling, boxing-out, consistency, leadership, or clutch-time capabilities.  Nor his health obviously.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

He's actually a decent shooter.

He's decent, agreed. Slight strength for Avery but he's never going to be a lights out shooter. He's a defensive hustle player who can make jumpers and good cuts to the basket. Nothing more.

People always say he is nothing more than a defender (sometimes an okay shooter). I always laugh b/c I believe no matter what he does, people will say it in every thread that he's a flop. Before AB was injured last season he was top 10 in rebounding at both PG and SG (he was shooting really well too), I think he was like 6th for PG which they keep calling him (probably b/c that's who he defends) and 9th for SG or the other way around, I can't really remember. I don't know how he ended up b/c I haven't really paid much attention b/c I'm tired of arguing that he is better than given credit.

I may over value our players (most fans do) but a lot of people are the "grass is always greener" type and I don't see the difference. It's proven when people say Kevin Martin is a shooter but AB isn't (or Klay). Now if you say it's his injuries, I totally get it but to say those guys are shooters but AB isn't I'll continue to laugh and not take you serious.

Hopefully AB will be healthy for a long period so either I can be proven wrong/right or others can be. Maybe it wont be with us (then I wont care as much) but either way,  it's like the Love situation, I'll be glad when the wait is over so people can move to another subject to make 100 threads on.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)
