From the time he was working with the Suns till now. Who were some of the best FAs he was able to entice to sign?

who were some of the worse?

He did a great job filling the roster with complementary players in `08.  Unfortunately he fell short in that area in ever other season.  Not for lack of effort.  Things just never worked out quite as well.

How great would it have been if Shaq could have given us a Bill Walton season!
Yup

Also keep in mind that Ainge has only had the MLE at his disposal. It would be fun to see who he could get with some real cap space.

James Posey was a great signing. Rasheed Wallace was pretty solid. He was the best available MLE big man available that summer.

Edit. PJ Brown was a great signing

The bad.... Jermaine O'Neal and Jason Terry. Two washed up players that used to be awesome.

Worst - Jason Terry, by far.  What a lemon he was.  Of course, there's also the White Mamba to consider here ::) and Ryan Hollins.  Ugh.

Best - Definitely Posey (way to let him go, Danny!), followed closely by Eddie House, imo.  PJ Brown was huge in game 7 vs the cavs, as we all fondly remember.  Even Sam Cassell made meaningful contributions that year.  I also thought that Marquis Daniels was an excellent pickup.  It's just too bad that he was injured, but that's the chance that you take with Marquis.  He sure looked like a world-beater in the first month or so of the 09-10 season.

the most insulting thing about that one is that he looked completely done and he's managed to be fairly productive in the kind of role Danny was looking for since he left.

I was really excited when they signed Terry.  I've always enjoyed him as a player.  It stunk to keep waiting and waiting for him to show up, and he never really came close.

Danny Ainge signs free Agents like Rondo shoots free throws. Luckily, like Rondo, Danny doesn't let that define him. He's a terrific drafter and made one of the greatest trades of the past decade to win us a title, so no hard feelings, Danny.

But still, Jason Terry, Mark Blount, Rasheed Wallace, Jermaine O'Neal, Tom Gugliotta. Y-I-K-E-S.

Ugh, don't remind me.  The C's just couldn't catch a break after that great '08 championship season.

+1. Pietrus was a good acquisition. Terrible injury he had but he was a solid defender and made open 3's
