Just got it confirmed. Marcin Gortat just agreed to a 5-year deal to return the #wizards, according to a league source.

Happy as a Celtics fan they didn't try to sign a center for such a high number.

P.S. So much for that Gortat retweet a while back. I guess you can't invest all your stock in twitter after all  :-[

I wanted Gortat, but more glad that the Heat didn't get him.

I hope for his sake that his teammates throw him the ball a little bit more in the coming seasons.  I think Gortat was way underutilized.

Well, now we have a solid target for how much cap space the Celtics should want to have to sign Asik next summer.

Washington are going to regret that contract.

Looking more and more likely that the Wiz are going to fail to build a title contender around John Wall. That Gortat contract and the Nene deal limit their options. Trying to give Ariza a new deal and gave Webster one last summer. A lot of money spent on players who aren't good enough to lead the team far into the playoffs. Beal due a contract extension in two years too.

Next season we'll be adding another lottery pick (ours) and another 1st rounder (Clips) and we'll have enough cap space to go after a player like this and we'll be able to package Rondo + Wallace's expiring for a max player.  The only way we can mess it up is if we go for players like Gortat this year due to impatience and lose out on the lotto pick and the cap space.  If we want to be competitive, we need to let players like this tie up OTHER team's cap space, not ours.  I don't want to be the Boston Knicks.

It really depends if John Wall can become a superstar and Beal an All Star.

I don't think that is going to be enough. They don't have enough help for them even if those max out their talent.
