If Bosh got 11 mil in the first year, what kind of raises could he get?  Could he get something like 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 or even 11, 12, 14, 16, 18?  He would be way better off asking for 71 or 65 total instead of 55.  The cap will only keep going up.  What is the rule on raises per year?
Those two taking 11/12 mil means Melo is probably on the way.

Nope

Lowry or Deng is most likely, but still don't see that being enough to get by the Spurs...

Melo would not take a pay cut.  He's an alpha dog for better or worse, not a subservient like Wade and Bosh.

more likely Lowry is on the way

Agreed. Lowry is a much more realistic option - I still think Melo goes to Chicago or Dallas at or near max money.

The Heat get overmatched athletically inside with LeBron being there only player (and sometimes Birdman) that can play above the rim.  Their best bet is to get Lowry and then get a couple of cheaper 4/5s that can run and jump.  The same guys that I want Danny to look at: Jordan Hill, Ed Davis, Ekpe Udoh, etc...

Now all James needs to do is convince Wade to be the 6th man.

I could easily see the Heat fitting Steve Blake and Shawn Marion into that space.

Melo is not signing anywhere for $12 million.

this is totally absurd and way beyond anything i ever expected. just goes to show that they really need to raise the max salary. would Wade and Bosh give up another $3 million each for Lebron to get $6 million more? what about 6 each for 12?

Something that's been proposed on here that I like quite a bit would be a minimum required salary, as opposed to a larger max salary.

No way LeBron, Wade, and Bosh stay together with a competitive team if they each "have to settle" for 17-20 million/year each, assuming the cap is around 63 million.

I don't see a feasible way to implement a minimum salary that wouldn't inevitably screw over teams that'd have to overpay guys far what they're currently worth due to past achievements.  I mean, using your Miami example, it'd be pretty ridiculous to force Miami to have to offer D-Wade at least $17 million given his decreased abilities.  Sounds good and everything if you hate the Heat, anyway, but what about when that affects your own team?

If you can't afford it, don't own a team.

I have zero empathy for management or ownership in that scenario. Maybe its a reaction to too much Maloofing, or watching the players get utterly bilked by people who somehow successfully argued that they were losing money.

If that's true and Bron wants max money, that means Wade and Bosh will "settle" for about 15 mil or so.  If you're Lowry, are you going to go and be the 4th highest paid player on a team that needs YOU to get back to title contention?

He's the GM. It should be his prerogative right?  ;)

Those two have really prostituted themselves to Pimp James. He gets the max money and they get leftovers. Sickening.

Bosh has had to sacrifice his game time and time again at request of his coaches. Now they force him to take paycut for making those sacrifices.

Bosh should leave.

Agreed.  If the superfriends were to break up, I always felt it would be Bosh who'd be the one to leave first.

But then you gotta worry about the Heat getting Melo if Bosh leaves.
