This is just an observation with no rumors backing it. I know their have been other posts about Rondo and Dallas in the past.

I just read that the Mavs have been in contact with Aminu and he would be a likely option if they miss out on a big FA. It is obvious to me that they are trying to recreate the dynamic that they had in their championship season. Aminu would give them an elite athlete to fill the Marion power small forward role, they brought back chandler, and they have Ellis to fill in what was previously a scoring guard buy committee (barea, Terry) role. The missing piece would be PG. Rondo is the perfect fit for them. I find it hard to put together pieces that make sense on the Celtics side but a package of Picks, Wright and dallas figuring out a way to absorb Wallaces contract could make sense. Dallas is in win now mode Dirk isn't getting any younger and I expect they go all in for a run the next two seasons.

I think they're going to push a lot harder than you think for Melo, they're meeting with him on Wednesday and can offer a max contract to him.  I think Melo is either going there or Chicago.  They really won't want to take on Wallace, in fact, I'm not sure they could even if they wanted to.  Maybe a three way trade with The Knicks where we get....Bargnani?  Their 2029 draft pick or whenever the next one they can trade is?  I doubt anything like this will happen

I mean, technically, couldn't Wallace be that athletic, defense-oriented wing that fills Marion's role?  There is quite a bit of similarity between the two players - both good defenders, poor shooters, etc.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

I agree with everything you said, except that since they sent their protected pick to OKC this year, I believe Dallas can trade a pick as early as 2015.

Three years ago, maybe.  Not today.  Crash is cooked and I say this as a guy who really liked him back when he was at full strength.

Why are we the ones "assisting" other teams in every single trade scenario. It's so sad that our expectations of being good are so low. I'm tired of "we don't have enough cap space" argument. If Melo wants to come to Boston, nothing can stop him. Knicks will jump all over the draft picks we give them in a sign-and-trade package.

It's pathetic that we're always assisting other teams become good while we go from below-average to average.

He is cooked and his contract is a killer but in a lesser role on a contender I think he can still give solid bench minutes.

We can hope a star comes to boston joins Rondo and the team is re-tooled to compete for a ring next year but this isn't likely. I think that boat sailed after Love wasn't traded on draft day.

keyword: "wasn't"

He wasn't just not trade to us, but he wasn't trade to anyone. Had he gotten traded, there would have been fear that he would start liking it there and resign. But that isn't happening.

Tommy point my friend!

Some are aiming really, really low.

I also don't want us to be the team that basically gift wraps all our players to other teams to "further the rebuild."

And truth be told, the word "rebuild" is becoming really, really tiresome.

Suddenly, I really wish the Pierce/KG trade never, ever happened.

The Knicks won't jump all over draft picks for Melo.  They don't rebuild, they refuel... with overpriced cheap gasoline.  Dolan is an idiot and Jackson will want out soon just like Donnie Walsh.
